Passing of Willis Maduro aka ‘Spuddo’ will ‘leave a noticeable void’- BVIAA President
The athletics community is mourning the loss of Mr Willis Maduro aka ‘Coach Spuddo’ who passed away on December 31, 2023.
Mr Maduro was an employee of the Virgin Islands Recreation Trust and an “integral part” of the track and field family in the territory.
Coach Spuddo, according to the President of the BVI Athletics Association (BVIAA), Mr Steve Augustine, was a proficient Starter, trained Throwing Coach, and a track enthusiast.
“His absence from our competition events will, most certainly, leave a noticeable void with us. On behalf of the BVIAA, our coaches, our athletes, our officials and fan base we extend sincerest condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. Rest in Peace our long-serving brother,” Mr Augustine stated today, January 3, 2024.
‘Kind spirit & dedication’
The VI Recreation Trust in a social media post said, “It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear colleague, Mr Willis Maduro. His kind spirit and dedication touched us all. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.”
The management and staff of Virgin Islands News Online extend sincere condolences to the family and friends of the late Willis Maduro aka ‘Coach Spuddo’.

So because he died times are difficult? Find better words to use please. RIP
It is a very sad time for the family and those who were close to him. It must be difficult for them to come to grips that he is gone. That's why the writer said "during this difficult time" even a mongoose would understand.
