ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Paper applications for public service jobs will no longer be accepted, as the Department of Human Resources has launched an online talent management system to streamline the application process for positions within the Public Service.

The new online talent management system has replaced the previous job board located on the Government website.

Subsequently, paper applications will no longer be accepted by the Department of Human Resources and all applications must be submitted through the new system,” a press release from Government Information Service (GIS) on February 22, 2024, stated.

Job seekers now able to track status of application

When accessing the platform, job seekers will be prompted to fill out the employment application and submit all required documents. Additionally, applicants will now be able to track the status of their applications as well as receive automated updates and invitations to interviews.

To access the system, applicants should click on the “JOBS” tab on the Government’s website (bvi.gov.vg) and select one of the “Apply Here” options for Public Service or Statutory Body vacancies, respectively.

Transparency, accountability & efficiency

With the introduction of this new system, according to the press release, the Department of Human Resources aims to facilitate a more transparent, accountable and efficient hiring process for individuals desirous of entering the Public Service.

A key feature of the new talent management system is its ability to keep job-seekers informed throughout every step of their journey, ensuring they are connected with the application process. This comes as the Department of Human Resources works to modernize communication with job seekers, transform the onboarding process, and reduce the time it takes for successful applicants to begin working,” the press release stated.

Persons in need of assistance when applying for positions online, are encouraged to contact the Customer Service Care Centre via telephone at 284-468-3701 or customerservice@gov.vg.

I applaud this, I think every kind of gov application should be made electronic, and electronically tracked. Put the favoritism of individuals on display.

Is that a plan to keep some people out of public service jobs? Please think again. Do not try to disenfranchise our young Virgin Islanders. Do what is right in the sight of God.

Is this really going to solve the problem?

I think it should still be done both ways. Who have the access to electronic devices can go ahead and do so but what about those who don't. Some of us so bright that sometime sense does not appear to be sense for the common and disenfranchised man or woman on the streets

This comment is not intended to hurt anyone's feeling but just to open one's eyes to the truth.

Persons who are not tech savvy in this modern era. No jobs for them…unless, of course, they “know” someone and can bypass the process completely.
