ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – An own goal deep in the second half handed Cornerstone U7’s a deserved 2-1 win over Enid Scatliffe Green in the BDO Primary School League on Saturday February 16, 2013.

Playing on their home ground, the A.O. Shirley Ground, and in front of a large crowd supporting both teams, the Greens had gone ahead in then7th minute through a Dremalichi Findlay goal.

Cornerstone were level in the 15th minute thanks to T’Khoy Morton and as the game opened up both teams had chances to win it before a spell of intense pressure from Cornerstone led to the winning goal.

Morton and Findlay were named as respective MVP’s.

In other Under 7 action, Montessori made their season’s debut and were unlucky to go down 2-1 to Althea Scatliffe Maroons. Sebastian Esser had been at the centre of all the Montessori attacks and it was he who breathed some life into their chances of getting something from the game with a second half strike to reduce the deficit from the half time score of 2-0 to the Maroons.

J’mya Mark had given her team a first half lead in the 7th minute and that advantage was doubled in the 12th minute by Anaya Findlay.

The smaller, younger Montessori held their own in the second half and despite Esser's influence just couldn’t find another goal.

Mark and Esser were both named as MVP’s for their teams.

In Under 9 games held over the weekend, Althea Scatliffe recorded a come from behind victory over First Impressions. Having gone behind to a Jerome Parkins opener in the 6th minute, ASPS hit back almost immediately through Allen Martin in the 8th minute and then netted the winner in the15th courtesy of Ajani Henry.

Martin was MVP for ASPS and Jalen Prentice for FIPS.

Quadruple strikes from MVP J’khoi Smith then handed Willard Wheatley a comfortable 4-0 win over Pelican Gate. He struck in the 2nd, 3rd, 25th and 26th minutes to overwhelm the team from the West.

Chad Willock was MVP for the Pelican’s.

In under 12 competition, what looked like an evenly matched affair between Cedar School 1 and Begrado Flax Educational Centre was broken open by Cedar in the second period of play with goals from Stephen Taskins (16th minute ) and John Pettigrew (18th). Tyriel Corrosco scored a 25th minute consolation for BFEC.

Taskins and Corrosco were the respective MVP’s.

In the day’s final game, goals at the end of each half from Timothy Lewis (15th) and Giovanni Grant (30th) gave Joyce Sammuels a straight forward 2-0 win over St Georges.

Lewis was named MVP for JSPS whilst Kayla Skelton took the honour for St Georges.
