Over $2M spent on UK attorneys to lock up residents on witch-hunt list!

Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mrs Tiffany R. Scatliffe-Esprit, claimed that the millions and millions of dollars spent on UK Attorneys could not be released because of national security. ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- After the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mrs Tiffany R. Scatliffe-Esprit, claimed that the millions and millions of dollars spent on United Kingdom (UK) attorneys could not be released because of national security, a local media house, ZBVI 780 AM, has obtained the information.

Both the UK-appointed Governor Daniel Pruce and Premier Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) had repeated the DPP's script about preserving national security, preventing the information from being made public.

The money is being spent as part of a witch-hunt list to lock up locals and police officers who speak out for justice and against double standards and do not go along with corruption in the police force.

The raping of our Treasury

Taxpayers have been raped of more than $2 million in base contracts to two UK King’s Counsels (KC) between 2018 and 2026, according to documents and other information.

Information from the documents shows that a combined $1,522,352 was paid to UK attorneys Sandip Patel KC and John Black KC during that period to help the DPP lock up local residents.

Mr Patel alone received over $1.125 million through contracts signed with the Virgin Islands (VI) government between 2023 and 2026. This figure does not include other allowances and perks while in the Territory. Each contract exceeds $100,000.

The state against the people

The millions and millions of taxpayers' dollars were paid out to put Lorna Stevens, Hon Myron V. Walwyn (R6), Wade N. Smith, Pamphil Prevost, Simon Powers, Marley Sebastian and Najan Christopher in jail; however, because the cases were bogus, they were all tossed out in the lower courts.

The DPP is alleged to have been forced by the Governor to appeal all of the cases, costing more money from the local treasury. This does not include the two million dollars already spent.

The documents also show that both KC Black and KC Patel listed the same UK address in their contracts with the government, and it’s unclear whether there was a bidding process or whether taxes, Social Security, and National Health Insurance are being paid in the VI.

Where is the outrage?

It gets worse as some seven contracts were signed between Black and the government between 2018 and 2023, amounting to nearly $400,000 in base fees.

With so much money being wasted to place innocent residents behind bars and damage their characters, there has been no protest or criticism by the activist and talk show class on social media. The double standards continue unabated.

The DPP is a poor lawyer and has no judgment.
The Government won’t fire her until she has lost all the Commission of Inquiry prosecutions - to fire her before she wrecks those prosecutions would be the equivalent of turkeys voting for Christmas.
She must be embarrassed by her own performance, and must know that she should resign. However, no other law firm would employ her.

What national security would be exposed if they told us the money that has been stolen under the guise of investigations?

DPP is racist against her own people? How can a Governor advise a DPP what to do? Then charges need to be brought against him also. I am sure the Constitution speaks about non-interference with the Office of DPP. Wicked bald-head Pruce in too much of Virgin Islands Business. He must go now and learn his place. We do not wish for his time to be extended. He needs to go back to the UK, continue to ride the tube and get out the luxury of that Range Rover and go get a therapist for drunken Ra****.

If they have broken the law they should be locked up. And the nation would be a better place for it.

Why do so many in the VI have a problem with that?

VI is held back by this support for criminals.

If they have broken the law then they should be taken to account. Not sure that is the place to start. Are you not in support of dealing with VIslander criminals. That seems to be the pattern, that if you are from the VI the call is not to be dealt with. I challenge that and think crimes need to be dealt with and not doing so is holding the nation back. Are you not in agreement?

The DPP & AG cannot be fired as they are both constitutionally appointed positions. Both have outlived their useful purposes.

For a moment, we should consider the possibility that the Office of the DPP is being positioned, intentionally or otherwise, to appear ineffective.

Over the past two decades, I have closely monitored developments across the region, and a consistent pattern of destabilization has emerged within the Caribbean, often influenced by external powers from the United States and Europe. When we look beyond the immediate issues within the Virgin Islands, it becomes clear that division and internal conflict serve the interests of those who benefit from a weakened and fragmented region.

This situation is not solely about the DPP losing cases. There are broader dynamics at play that deserve serious attention. The rise in violent crime, the persistence of drug‑related activity, and the narratives pushed about where these drugs originate all raise legitimate questions. At one point, nearly every major drug seizure in the Caribbean was somehow attributed to the Virgin Islands. Have we forgotten that?

There is far more occurring beneath the surface, yet our government remains preoccupied with internal disputes. In doing so, they risk overlooking the true threats and external forces that may be shaping these outcomes.
