Orealia E. Thomas crowned Miss Universe BVI 2026
She will represent the Territory at the upcoming Miss Universe competition in Puerto Rico.
Thomas received the title during a coronation ceremony held at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
She succeeds Olivia Margaret Freeman, who held the Miss Universe BVI 2025 title.
'New chapter begins'
The Miss Universe BVI organisation announced Thomas’ achievement in a Facebook statement shared following the ceremony, stating that “A new chapter begins as Orealia prepares to represent the British Virgin Islands on the Miss Universe stage. Follow along as her journey unfolds!”
As the newly crowned titleholder, Thomas will represent the Virgin Islands at the 75th Miss Universe competition, scheduled for November 24, 2026, at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Her participation will place the Virgin Islands among contestants from around the world competing for the Miss Universe crown.

And mind you, ALL of this information was obtained from the public domain because, as BVIslanders, we are sitting here confused like… WHO IS SHE?!
At what point did representing the BVI become something that could simply be assigned from outside our shores, rather than earned through participation in our own national pageant system?
This whole pageant separation situation has got to STOP.
We literally just crowned a beautiful, talented, intelligent and accomplished Miss BVI 2026, Asha Hyndman, a true daughter of BVI soil, who would have been more than capable of carrying our flag and representing us on the Miss Universe stage.
And THAT is the part that makes this particularly frustrating. It’s not about tearing another woman down or questioning her ability. It’s about process, representation and accountability. If someone is going to wear the BVI sash on an international stage, surely the people of the BVI should at least understand how, why and when that person was selected.
But alas… apparently we, the people being represented, don’t get a say.
So, Orealia, congratulations. I genuinely wish you well, and I hope you represent the British Virgin Islands to the absolute best of your ability.
But whew chile… the way this was handled has left A LOT of questions.
