DUFF'S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI – Virgin Islands Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has accused Opposition Leader Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8) of peddling untruths, after the two leaders had an exchange of words in the Virgin Islands House of Assembly.

During the Eleventh Sitting of the Third Session of the Fourth House of Assembly on August 12, 2021, Opposition Leader Hon Penn asked for the revenue and total expenditure for the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) to which the Premier provided the information from January 2018, through May 2021, broken down on a yearly basis.

Hon Fahie noted; however, that as a result of delays due to COIVD-19, the corporation is still undergoing an audit for previous years

Hon Penn then suggested that because the audit was still ongoing, it was obvious that the companies do not audit themselves, rather they must be audited by 3rd party companies.

Premier Fahie then moved to rebuke the statements.

“That is false, and the member knows he should take that off the record,” Premier Fahie responded.

The Opposition Leader retorted that he will stand by his statement.

Hon Penn 'insensitive' to COVID-19 challenges- Premier

According to Hon Fahie, “The Member has said something in the house that is not accurate, and he has shown that he is insensitive to COVID-19, these questions and the auditing cannot be asked… some of the companies are only now doing their audits, some of the national firms that were doing their audits, can only now get their information,” he said.

Premier Fahie further warned that should the Opposition Leader continue with his comments, information on Hon Penn’s performance with regards to his audits while in the National Democratic Party (NDP) government will be brought to the HoA.

Hon Fahie further accused the Opposition Leader of having a history of telling untruths, prompting House Speaker Hon Julian Willock to step in and put an end to the exchange of words.

The Speaker also reminded that the question-and-answer segment is not a pretext for a debate or other business.

sick of the political nonsense among the 13 just to get votes on election day

So wait....what's the purpose of the opposition ?? If the opposition agrees to everything this current government or any government brings forward then that isn't OPPOSING anything...I'm sure everyone can understand why auditing should be done by a third party(hopefully) so that any mistakes missed by the companies bookkeepers can be found and corrected...correct me if I'm wrong cause I'm open to learning.

I was a former NDP Supporter and I left the NDP for the same reason Fahie is saying about that guy. He is a failure of a leader.

The PM is correct. All Marlon doing is causing confusion while saying he's representing. He can't even lead the NDP.

Hon. Fahie, I totally agree with you. It seems to me that the Opposition Leader is looking for an opportunity to be on television before he display his emptiness. Being in politics for such a long time he should know that the interest of the people is more important than looking for political points. Whom so ever he is trying to impress or who is advising him, he is putting this country io a slippery slope.

The British is very crafty in dividing and rule the descendants of slavery in order for them to have a total control of the territory. The more division that is displayed by the Opposition Leader, more leverage will be given to open the gate for foreign intervention and that will be a travesty for all pf us.

The opposition is right with the auditing of the third Party, I did not see anything wrong in what he said. How can the speaker put a stop to the comments or opinion of the opposition, I don't see the logic in it. That is why the government has opposition whether it be false statements or true.
And another thing why Andrew Fahie wants to say he will rehash with evidence what the Opposition leader did under the NDP party.
Hon. Fahie let's move on, stop campaigning man.......!!!!!!!

It is clear to me that Marlon and Mitch are pretending to love the people of the BVI but behind the scenes they are working with the COI and the Governor and UK to destroy we the people of the V.I. so they can stay out of jail.

So why should it be who has a history of deceit. Its about the audit of the Electricity Corporation. Keep with the subject. All of us are in the same boat of deceit of one point or another, some are still waiting on the new list of the farmer and fisher folks stimulus. It is best to have good men to stand up and deal with the issue, if not, evil will prevail. Try not to go up against the opposition, its like school girl play. Let him be the one to do it, its his job. How you deal with him counts.

At this point in time leaders need to have child like thinking for clarity and humbleness, so that God can give them the power they do deserve to lead, only then they will speak like conquering men. Nelson Mendel speak with authority, " I was....an ordinary man who had become a leader because of extra ordinary circumstances" Qin Shi Huang speak " I have collected all the writings of the Empire and burnt those which were of no use" Moses speak when God tells him to say " Let my people go" , Yi Sun-Sin stated " Do not make a hasty movement. Be like a mountain. Move silently and Cautiously" and Ghandi Speak and leave one of his quote on this earth that start will all of us " Be the change you want to see this world" Let us have men who our youth would aspire to be, they are the leaders of tomorrow and good example they need.

Let us start to see men of good countenance.

Unfortunately the conman will win this round Fahie. The member of the ***is good at what he does. He believes his lies. He has no remorse for his lies and he is actually capable of fooling people with lies. Many are already brainwashed so I expect to get many dislikes on my blog. Sad but it is true. The devil always get a free pass.
