Operators Without Borders assisting W&SD with replacement of pressure valves
The team is collaborating with the Water and Sewerage Department (W&SD) on the installation and proper maintenance techniques for Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs).
Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Kye M. Rymer (R5), acknowledged the support from Operators Without Borders, specifically for their efforts in removing old valves and installing modern replacements.
Hon Rymer extends gratitude to OWB
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the minister stated, "But I just want to acknowledge the operators without borders. We have some members of the team here. They've been here for a week. I think this would have been the fifth or the sixth PRV that they've done in that time."
Meanwhile, Jason Mank of Operators Without Borders emphasised that their organisation is a nonprofit and that all volunteers assist wherever help is needed. "We go to all the islands whenever they need some help from volunteers. Everybody who comes and works with us is a volunteer. We are 100% nonprofit. We come in and help, or we can, and offer specialty."
Mank added, "We have one of our specialists who will be coming back to recalibrate all the PRVs all across the island after we get them installed."

It appears there wasn't and no maintenance plan in place, only when something is broken we look into it but don't solved the problems, this is what it looks like to me.
Now some volunteers had to come here and tell us what our salary paid personnel should have known, and they will now be considered as saints. I commend them for stepping but it should never be this way.
Further there appears to be a problem with us black people in maintaining anything, this true in Africa and in other Caribbean islands as well. Maintenance and waste management are areas we need to improve on.
