Appears some trucks are overloaded and can't climb this steep hill.

Honourable Kye Rymer, Minister of Works and Director Jeremy Hodge of Public Works, please get the crew out there immediately to Sophie Bay Hill and remove the caked concrete on the hillside of the road.

Additionally, put out warnings to all truckers to only carry lighter loads, do not over stack the truck beds, strict service of trucks and revisit best tips for loading of trucks to brave the BVI hills.

I concur to not shift gears in middle of the hill. Also, the hill needs to be shaved down some more - about 10 feet deep and widened about the same 10 feet. Lives are at risk!

The concrete is there for years. It needs to be removed. Bad case of concrete on the hill over looking the Seventh Day Adventist School. That also needs to go. Went to go license my vehicle last week. The vehicle in front of me had problems going forward and kept rolling back. Don't talk about the smoke that was coming from it. Sure enough they licensed it. Certain vehicles just don't belong on the road

While I agree some roads are in poor shape, I've seen many trucks being overloaded. And common sense will tell you, if you overload a small truck like that, it's obvious that it will tilt over.

Most of these bloggers correctly highlighted the issues on this particular piece of road so I will just build on them. Motorists have been using sleepy hill or Sophie bay hill ( or whatever is the correct name) without many problems. However, the conditions became worse because of the trucks that spilled concrete on the road surface without cleaning it up. The relevant authority should cause this to be done. Owners of heavy-duty vehicles should ensure that their vehicles are mechanically sound and licensed and Insured ( a number of them are not ) and their drivers have the correct license to operate them. They should know the manufacturer's weight limit for each vehicle and load them accordingly ( weight shifting should be considered if the vehicle will descend or ascend hills) The correct gear should be engaged before ascending or descending any steep hill like this one. Where long or wide vehicles are being used to transport heavy materials, it is best to use a scout vehicle to warn oncoming traffic ( some truckers do). It is very frightening to encounter one of these vehicles on this hill or in the Jene Hill area. It is more so when the driver is aggressively using his air horn. The government also needs to look into vehicles transporting hazardous materials like oil and gas (especially propane) and the companies that are using small pickups to carry one hundred-pound cooking gas cannisters in their tray. This is illegal in many developing countries. Finally straying a bit, it is very alarming to be driving through Road Town during the height of rush hour traffic ( pedestrians included) to see a propane truck replenishing the tanks for business places along the road or in crowded areas and the driver casually sits somewhere or in some cases leave the vesicle unattended while he go about some other business. Suppose there is a leakage or an explosion?

@loosemouth correctly points out that ready mix trucks spill concrete on the road to all our detriment. And get away with it! They also clean the trucks and the slide which pours out the mix on the side the road after a job. There are pools of dried n concrete dotted all around the island. this is blatant pollution. And they get away with it.
