ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Sometime yesterday, Thursday, January 18, 2024, a big hole was discovered in the perimeter wall around the House of Assembly (HoA) building, in Road Town, the capital city. The upstairs of the same building is used for the sitting of the High Court, mostly for criminal matters that are currently ongoing.

It is unclear the circumstances surrounding the mishap, but skid marks from an automobile were discovered close to the hole.

It is unclear if court proceedings were happening at the time of the incident.

Police were called in to investigate and reportedly reviewed security cameras.

The HoA of 15 members and staff will meet again on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, for the Continuation of the Sixth Sitting of the First Session of the Fifth House of Assembly.

This will be the first appearance for the new Clerk, Mrs Bethsaida V. Smith-Hanley.

Our newsroom will bring details once the accident culprit is identified.

I doubt very much someone would destroy their car deliberately, this must have been an accident. The person probably got scared and left the scene maybe with no insurance or registration. That is a thick wall with grating on top. No way would anyone take a chance to kill themself hitting that.

The wall was eroded from the inside and the wall fell on its own.

Only contracts over a certain amount needs to be tendered. Know the rules before you make stupid comments. That repair probably cost 3000.00 or less
