POND BAY, Virgin Gorda, VI- One of the biggest Christmas in July events was held at Pond Bay on Virgin Gorda on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

The beach party, held by Wally Castro Marine in partnership with the BVI Tourist Board, saw thousands of people and hundreds of boats converge at Pond Bay for one of the biggest one-day parties in the Caribbean.

Among those joining the revelry and welcoming the visiting Puerto Ricans and other patrons were Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) and Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Vincent O. Wheatley, who is also the Ninth District Representative.

‘Biggest one day party on earth’- Hon Lorna G. Smith OBE

Hon Lorna G. Smith, OBE (AL), the Junior Minister for Financial Services, Trade and Economic Development, hailed this year’s Christmas in July as the “biggest ever”.

“Biggest one-day party on earth! Hundreds of boats: Everyone dancing. What a party…Amazing how they put this together! Pure happiness! Bands were excellent too,” Hon Smith posted on her Facebook page.

Christmas in July is an annual event in the VI where boaters from Puerto Rico and other nearby areas unite in the islands for a week of festivities. It is a tradition that started in 2007 and has grown to attract thousands of visitors each year.

    Ya’ll BVI ppl like to complain complaining!!!!!!!!!!!!! These are ppl who help especially Virgin Gorda during hurricane Irma!!! I will forever love my Puerto Rican !! Stop complaining the things we should be complaining about!!! You ppl choose to keep quiet about it!!!

        They just want certain locals at their party. They have been inviting locals to party with them for years, but people they have met along their many years of vacationing in the bvi. Tourist board needs to stay out of it and we need to behave and the party will continue.

    omg!!!!!anchoring on top of the poor reef. Where is National Parks/Marine Police protecting our only treasure?
    God Bless PR the Navy; they would not be so disrespectful. This was OVER capacity and the Savannah Bay and Pond Bay ecosystems will suffer long after the damage is done and the money spent.

    The tourist board are trying to take over this event - remember how the CGB music festival thrived until the Govt got involved. I hope that Wally Marine resist any attempt by the BV I Govt to become more involved.
