LONG LOOK, Tortola, VI- One Love FC gave themselves a massive boost in their search for a second National League title when they beat defending champions Sugar Boys FC 8-2 in East End/Long Look on Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Alcise Savary grabbed a quadruple, scoring in the 28th, 41st, 45th and 57th minutes to cement the rout, whilst further goals came from Jermaine May (6th), Collin Lavia (27th), Julian Davidson (61st) and Shyane Prince (85th).

Derol Redhead scored twice for the Boys, in the 79th and 88th minutes.

The win means that One Love are now five points clear of Sugar Boys, who do still have two games in hand.

Wins for Lion Heart & VG United

Lion Heart FC recorded a statement win, 2-1, against Rebels FC to leapfrog over them into fourth place in the standings, as Shavaughn Thomas netted a brace either side of a strike from the National League's leading goal scorer, Johari Lacey.

VG United also returned to winning ways, albeit in strange circumstances against Panthers over on the VG Recreation Ground. The shorthanded Panthers, who arrived with just seven players, fell to an early goal by Levon Williams, before the keeper fell injured and as he was unable to continue. The game was called in favour of VG United.

Wolues maul Positive 9-3

The Wolues FC got back on track in the hunt for a top four finish with a 9-3 pummeling of Positive FC as both Phil Nelson and Oliver Henderson scored hat tricks, Marcus Robinson a brace and Alejandro Santos also found the back of the net.

“The result was never in much doubt,” commented Nelson.

“We played a good first half and moved it quite well. The second half we dropped off a little and is disappointing to concede a few but to score nine, we are happy, and most importantly getting the three points to help us with the race to finish in the top four."
