MOSKITO ISLAND, BVI- While his successor President Donald J. Trump (R) has the world upside down with his executive orders, which include banning some nationals from Muslim majority countries, resulting in protests every day around the United States of America, former President and First Lady Barack H. Obama (D) and Michelle L. Obama are still in the British Virgin Islands.

The popular political couple landed at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on January 23, 2017 via a private jet belonging to Billionaire Virgin Islander Sir Richard C. N. Branson.

The couple is staying at Moskito Island and not Necker Island as being reported by some local, regional and international press.

There have been many false reports about the sighting of the Obamas on Tortola,Virgin Gorda, Necker Island, Beef Island and even St John; however, our Team of Reporters (Paparazzi) stake out all over the British and United States Virgin Islands and have confirmed that the reports are false.

Rumours & false information

While it's a fact that most if not all residents want to at least get a glimpse of the former American First Couple, rumours that Mr Obama and his wife Michelle are to visit Tortola to go shopping at the Tortola Pier Park are untrue, according to our newsroom’s sources closely associated with the private visit.

Information circulating last week that the former President was to visit the Elmore Stoutt High School on Tortola was also misinformation as it never happened.

There were also rumours that the couple was to be on Virgin Gorda playing golf at Nail Bay, and was scheduled for a private dinner there with some top government officials; however, that turned out to be false also.

In addition, it was said that the Obamas had dinner with Governor John S. Duncan OBE; however, that too turn out not to be so.

Also circulating is that the former First Lady Mrs Obama has roots on Tortola; however, this is also false.

What is true!

The Obamas are still on Moskito Island catching up on some long needed relaxation after some eight years in the United States White House.

Their trip is a private one and not many senior government and elected officials were even aware they were coming to the BVI except for the Governor, Premier, Deputy Premier and Police Commissioner.

Their schedule as of now is unclear and so is their departure date. Recently, some students from St Thomas in the USVI wrote to Mr Obama requesting to meet him or that he visits their school in St Thomas. It is unclear if that will be honoured.

Local educator, political activist and former Miss BVI Sharie B.Y. de Castro also did a poem dedicated to Mrs Obama, invoking the popular phrase "when they go low we go high."

Finally, today January 30, 2017, through a spokesman, ex-President Obama broke his silence on the United States political dilemma by expressing solidarity with those protesting President Trump’s ban on travelers and refugees entering the USA from certain Muslim-majority countries.

Our newsroom will be the first to update you of any sighting of Mr and Mrs Obama or if we get accurate information on their schedules.

thank you for breaking your silence about the Muslim ban and the direction the president wants to take the US. McCarthy, Nixon and now Trump. How does the world fight this? AND he has his white supremacist adviser in on National Security Council meetings and has dropped joint chief of staff head and other heads of security. This man is a fascist dictator. The world misses you President Obama. Stay away from the television on your vacation and get a lot of reading in.

The BVI was an ideal vacation spot because he could borrow Branson's jet, borrow Branson's boat and then borrow the house.
After 8 years achieving nothing in the White House, except breaking records for the amount of golf he played, Obama needed a break from the golf course.
By convention, former Presidents keep quiet. Even Bush kept quiet about Obama's complete failures in office. However, Obama who has no legacy, other than as a failure and playing more golf than any former President, is still trying to be important. Please go home and shut up.

I can tell the colour you are...Obama did more in the white house as president than any other president did. Maybe you need to shut up and go back to where you came. Maybe Trump is the best president for you and the rest of the white hateful cronies. May God help American with Trump in the White House.

You left off the part that President Bush was one of American Dumbest Presidents in US history. Bush did himself justice by keeping his month closed.

Former Presidents did not have to weight in because their successors were not insane like the current POTUS, so Mr. Obama had to say something. You need to stop being so racist and keep an open mind. The 45th POTUS will be the end of this country as a world power. Open your eyes. When you blink you will wonder what happened to all your rights then come back and tell us how awful Obama was. God bless you.

Dear President & First Lady Obama (I know Donald is the so called leader now. I just wanted to address you with the proper title that American media wouldn't, with their racist selves) You are welcome here anytime. The British Virgin Islands is a small place compared to where you live, but while you are here, I hope you and your wife are treated like ROYALTY and you can feel the love and respect our people have for you. Enjoy your stay with us. One Love.

LOL. Add this to the rumors and false information: I'm sitting right here with them on the beach sipping on Pina Coladas. Such a wonderful night. The President and First Lady are so nice. We are going fishing tomorrow, and the President promises to fix a nice dinner for us all when we return. I had no idea he could cook!

Don't envy me now. I have a special invitation, and we are family. The First Lady and I have roots from Long Look. :-)

It has been our pleasure to have had you here. Although many of us would have loved to get a glimpse of you we respect your privacy. After eight years you deserve it and more. We hope that you won't forget us and come back again where the people will be able to meet and greet you.
May God continue to be a shield around you. Blessings to you both and your beautiful daughters.

Stop bombarding the man with duties and political things. He is not president no more. 8 years running a huge country is very over whelming. He is on VACATION. let him enjoy it. I think that was very inconsiderate for the USVI students to write him. Just let him enjoy his vacation please. Y'all are ridiculous . How would you feel if you're on vacation and your boss/ employees kept calling you for help?

How does the Trump admin. has the world upside down? the guy was in there for less than a month and the democrats are giving him a tough time to confirm his cabinet , agreed that communication and systems should have been more thought of when banning those 7 countries for 90 days , however , he is delivering what he has promised in his campaign which was protecting the borders , just like the BVI. This whole musilm ban thing is blown out of proportion and all politics played by the sore losers whose supporters are also reporters who voted for Hillary and having the world believe them. Listen or read what the present administration has to say and form your own opinion

Virgin Islanders graciously welcome former President, Mr. Obama and his wife Mrs. Michelle Obama of the USA, as they enjoy a deserving vacation on Moskito Island in the Archipelago of the BVI. The owner Sir Richard Branson should be congratulated for his role in this. The Obamas look quite relaxed and some what refreshed. Virgin Islanders are hoping to get a glimpse of the Obamas. I heard that local Poet and Writer, Dr. Quincy Lettsome will like to present the poem to the President, which he wrote on the historical night he was first elected, together with two other books : an Anthology of Poems on the Virgin Islands and his most recent published history book on the BVI.

The tourism sector is important to the BVI's economy. But, so are the multitude of everyday citizens of the BVI. Tourists come and go. But day-in-day-out, the BVI citizenry, are, and will always be, with us. Why when it comes to 'impact', any impact, tourism is always put first? I can't be first for a country, which is not first, for itself so while we welcome Obama the residents count also!

We need to see how to keep this man and his wife here for as long
as he wants. Give him belongers status, Land holding Licence so he
can buy a piece of land or give him a piece of Crown land in exchange
to promote tourism to the bvi. Make him an honorary citizen so he can
come and go as he likes. We need to make the best of his visit, while
america is trying to firgue out where them heading.
