THE SETTLEMENT, Anegada, VI- Residents of Anegada are being advised that due to infrastructure concerns at the Nurse Romalia Smith Clinic, the facility has been temporarily closed for assessment and necessary repairs to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients and staff.

The BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) has, however, made provisions for health care services to continue to be accessible.

Clinic services temporarily relocated

The clinic services will be temporarily housed in the downstairs area of Nurse George Smith's apartment building.

“We have taken all necessary steps to ensure that this location is equipped to provide you with the care and attention you require,” BVIHSA stated in a press release today, November 6, 2023.

In addition to the relocated clinic services, clinical services will also be provided through home visits.

“Our dedicated healthcare professionals will come to you to ensure that you receive the care you need in the comfort of your own home,” BVIHSA added.

Emergency numbers

It said in case of emergencies, the Authority has established dedicated phone lines for convenience. The numbers to call in case of emergency are (284) 440-1627, (284) 346-9801 or (284) 440-1646 “to reach our healthcare professionals promptly. Your safety and well-being are our top priorities, and we are here to assist you in any emergency.”

BVIHSA said these alternate arrangements for clinic services will be in place until further notice.

“We are committed to keeping you informed of any updates regarding the Nurse Romalia Smith Clinic's reopening and the resumption of regular services.

“We understand that this may be a temporary inconvenience, but it is a necessary step to ensure the safety and quality of healthcare on Anegada. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this period of transition,” BVIHSA stated.

I'd like to see the list of government buildings in good repair, with well-functioning air conditioning, no mould and well-maintained roofs that don't leak.
