BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI– Former Speaker of the Virgins Islands (VI) House of Assembly Ms Ingrid A. Moses-Scatliffle says the 2023 General Elections are not one for games and tactics used in the past.

Ms Moses-Scatliffe was at the time speaking on the March 21, 2023, edition of the Honestly Speaking show hosted by Claude O. Skelton-Cline on ZBVI 780 AM.

“Integrity and leadership matter more than ever. This is no ordinary election, so the tactics and the games that usually took place in other elections, there's no time for that,” she said.

Moses-Scatliffle is a lawyer and has served as the HoA Speaker for the Second and Third HoA in the periods spanning 2011 to 2019 under the then National Democratic Party (NDP) Government.

She is currently on the PVIM ticket as an At Large candidate, in place of long-serving party member Lesmore Smith.

Integrity counts in 2023 - Moses-Scatliffe

“If we're really serious about restoring the soul of the territory and getting us back on course to where we need to be, then integrity has to count and you have to have persons with integrity...,” she added.

Over the years, politicians have been accused of employing divisive tactics to gain votes and divide the Virgin Islands, as well as put the people of the Virgin Islands against its US Virgin Islands neighbours.

Meanwhile, in 2018, during the campaign for the February 25, 2019 elections, the still-serving speaker Moses-Scatliffe was announced by the NDP and the media as an At Large Candidate.

Many residents, civil society, and the media had expressed it was a conflict of interest for Moses-Scatliffe to still be presiding over the HoA as a political candidate.

In the end, she was not selected by the NDP to contest on their slate.

Elections in the Virgin Islands will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023, with Advance Polling slated for Friday, April 21, 2023.

It was very upsetting and annoying to hear CSC and head Coach attacking and disrespecting the Gov. daily and you my dear Cuz is in that bracket.. I can't give you a vote..I will give that vote to Davies. Actions have consequences..
