‘No secrecy’ in negotiations between UK & VI– Skelton-Cline
On the May 17, 2022, edition of his Honestly Speaking radio show, Skelton-Cline called on not just the UK, but the Unity Government led by Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) to be more transparent and let the people know what is being proposed in the negotiations.
He also called on the UK to make a definitive statement regarding the way forward.
“I do believe that those things need to be shared with the public. The public must know what's being negotiated. The public must know what's being offered. The public must know,” he said.

The clergyman added that more transparency will help to alleviate fears and concerns and bring more stability to the territory.
“The specifics, the particularity of what we're currently facing cannot be done in secrecy, the public has a right,” Skelton-Cline added.
Meanwhile, Special envoy to the Premier, Mr E. Benito Wheatley in a May 11, 2022, statement to the United Nations (UN) indicated that the Unity Government's proposal on reform was submitted a day earlier on May 10, 2022, to the United Kingdom.
Mr Wheatley said the position of the Wheatley Government to maintain a democratic system is not only that of the political directorate, it is also the sentiment of the majority of the population who cherish democracy and do not want to retard the constitutional progress the VI has made over the last seven decades.
