No conflict with Triple Crown & District Party – Hon. Fraser

- Says 3rd District party will proceed as planned for January 14

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The 3rd District Christmas Party planned by district representative Hon, Julian Fraser RA will proceed as planned on Saturday January 14, 2012 and will not hinder in any way with the Triple Crown races scheduled for Sunday January 15.

This is according to Hon. Fraser, who explained to Virgin Islands News Online that had he foreseen any controversy with the venue being used for the event, as the district representative he would not have held his event on that date.

“And if I thought there would have been a conflict I would not have done so. It was announced a long time ago, if I thought there was going to be a conflict whether it’s for the party or the races, I will not want any controversy,” Hon. Fraser stated.

The third district representative further explained that he had received a call on Friday January 6 from the Ministry of Education and Culture asking him whether he could have changed the venue for his party since they were going to have the Triple Crown the following day.

Hon Fraser said he did not agree to change the event since the party was planned a long time ago and his event along with cleaning up after would be completed well in advance for the preparation to begin for the races.

Regarding concerns that vendors would have want to store their items overnight in the stand for the races the following day, the district representative said that was never done before and the vendors have always come in and set up on the day of the races.

He said his party, which is expected to start about 6:30 p.m. will conclude by midnight.

“If there was a situation where traditionally, vendors set up the day before secured the night prior to the races, I would know and wouldn’t be there and that is not the case.”

Asked if he was approached by anyone other than the ministry to change the venue for his event, he said, “No one else has approached me and my assurance is still the same, we will have the place cleaned and clear well in advance for them being there for its use.”

The former Minister for Communications and Works also disclosed that the party has been held at the track for the past five years. He also commented that he had his campaign launch on October 8, 2011 and on October 9, 2011 there was horse racing and it did not affect the plans or preparations for the races.

    This is the 1st time we are holding a Triple Crown event Mr. Fraser. This isn't just another race day. Why must you be so stubborn? I am one of your supporters but some times your are a bit too arrogant!

      hust your silly backside "only in the bvi" you could never be a supporter and call this humble man aggront! You got to get to know Frazer one of the most humble and kind person ever...that is why we will keep voting for he all the way...have your party Frazer it will not affect a ting boss...and the horse owners done say so its just the haters trying to cause confusion!

      you all NDP haters could not beat the man at the polls..now the funny man minister trying to show he got power and aint want the people to have dem party. But as someone done say Myron playin with fire let he pick a fight with this good Man Fraser he will find out who got to catch the plane to Antigua...Keep off our man Fraser and let the party go one..stop the hate!!!!!! stop the disrespect of the people of the 3rd!

      TO QUEEN BEE: Fraser please do not listen to them NDP fools and take no party to no damm community center or else I am not coming. I like the space at the racetrack!!! When was the last time Fraser had his Party at the Community Centre? I cannot even remember!!! The 3rd, district party has been at the racetrack going on six years now, so the NDP new paid bloggers and power hungry Minister need to stop tell lies. We are not going anywhere else but the track, it is we District Party, they voted for Fraser not OJ and we will have our party where we want it…we know you all hate Fraser and the people of the 3rd district but you all will not push us around in our district.

      this party date was set before the horse race. If any date needs to be change is the race race date. This man still runs his district. I am going to be on the horse track for fraser party and also horse race. Eat ayo a$$ out.

    Word is, that NDP and Platinum got together to sabotage Fraser party by stiring up controversy with the Horse people, but it didnt work.
