No Christmas Day baby in the VI!

- Nurses optimistic about a New Year's Day bundle!
No babies were born at Peebles Hospital on December 25, 2011.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Even though the maternity ward at the Territory’s hospital is filled with potential mothers, there was no Christmas Day delivery but nurses are keeping their fingers crossed that one might give birth on New Year’s Day.

One nurse told Virgin Islands News Online that “we are really a bit disappointed when no babies were delivered.”

However, she added “hopefully with a number of pregnant mothers in the ward we are praying to have one at the stroke of mid night on January 1 or during the course of the day. It does not matter.”

From this news agency’s research, there was no New Year’s baby for 2011. But this is not the first occasion that there was no New Year’s baby. In 2008 there was none, while in 2009 two deliveries were made.

Meanwhile, in 2010 Hilary Dahiandy Donovan was born at 8:51 pm on New Year’s Day. She weighed six pounds 12 ounces at her birth.

Or maybe its because people from the other Caribbean islands are tired of fighting to change our laws to give their children our rights and decided to go back home to get their children so that they can get their rights
