ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The lack of Air Conditioning Units (ACs) at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex has forced the organisors of the Summer Sizzle BVI 2022 to switch the venue for the Global Glamour Runway Show to the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park.

The Global Glamour Runway Show, which will be hosted by Joel Steingold, a "lover of BVI" who can currently be seen as Marcus St John on Showtime Series “The Chi” and in the upcoming Disney Plus Series “The Crossover”, will be staged on Saturday July 23, 2022, at 7:30 pm.

‘Extreme heat’ in Sports Complex

“The reason for switching from the Sports Complex is due to the extreme heat in the venue. I was informed that the AC would be installed by summer but was told was told there will be no AC.

“After hearing from residents who attended the basketball games about the venue feeling like a sauna, I immediately knew I had to find an alternative solution which is very limited on Tortola. I approached Pier Park and they agreed to host the event there,” fashion model guru and promoter of the annual Summer Sizzle BVI Mr Terry T. Donovan told Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) on July 13, 2022.

Mr Donovan further said the event is expected to have a number of international journalists, media influencers, celebrities, designers, models, and visitors and it would not be a good reflection of the VI and Summer Sizzle “with them sweating in the Sports Complex.”

Summer Sizzle BVI 2022, a fun-filled week of Fashion, Music, Art and Culture, will start July 21 and conclude on July 24, 2022.

Has he ever paid to use the building when the ac worked? I doubt it. This ac has to be custom built. You can't go into a store and buy it.

The Pier Park is not a good venue for a show like this. It needs an indoor place like the Eileen Parsons Auditorium if the AC is not ready in time.

Terry should be able to trace his more than four generations back so, at least, he can get in.

The name of this event is 'Summer Sizzle' so why is air conditioning even an issue. Either change the name or hold the event in a nice hot humid building so everyone in attendance is sizzling!

The government knew about this event months ago. This event brings tourists and money into the country, why wouldn’t they have made sure to get that place ready? The bathrooms in the building also need renovating. Year after year, event after event they continue to lapse. All they do is waste money. They build buildings but do nothing to maintain them. Maintenance is NEVER a priority.
