NLBC honours 3 Unsung Heroes for 2026

DUFFS BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- In keeping true to the scripture, Romans 12: 20, three dedicated Virgin Islanders were honoured during the New Life Baptist Church (NLBC) Unsung Heroes Sunday Service on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

The service was described as a beautiful dedication to these three well-deserving citizens who have given of themselves for most of their lives to service, making the Virgin Islands (VI) a little bit better. 

2026 Honourees

The 2026 cohort for the NLBC’s Unsung Heroes included:

Dr Patricia G. Turnbull- Literary Arts 

Mr Elwin A. Flax- Tourism and Construction. 

Each year, the Senior Pastor chooses one person from among the ministry to honour for their dedication and commitment to building the Kingdom. This year’s surprise honouree was Pastor Gregory Smith, for his unwavering commitment to serving people through Godly leadership, selfless service and philanthropy. 

Over 90 already honoured

The annual ceremony honouring outstanding and dedicated Virgin Islanders has honoured over 90 Virgin Islanders. 

Pastor Smith, who gave the sermon, thanked the church for the honour.

“We extend a hearty congratulations to all the new inductees and wish them a continued blessings on their journey through life. May the work you have all done continue to speak for you,” the church said in a statement following the ceremony.
