ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Virgin Islands History and Culture will be the focus of a new television talk show which will have its first airing on Easter Sunday April 8, 2012 on CBN Channel 51.

The show will be called “THEN & NOW” and will be hosted by Violet Thomas Gaul, who told Virgin Islands News Online that the aim of the programme is to highlight the culture, heritage and history of the Virgin Islands (British) in order to reflect where the Territory has come and where it seems to be heading.

“We want to educate the people in the Virgin Islands as well as our visitors about who we are as a people as I feel that we have moved away from our heritage and culture. We will be looking at what our forefathers did and didn’t do as a people. I would be having a number of guests, mostly the older folks, who would be able to tell us about our history. These would include Virgin Islanders as well as people who have come to live among us and would be able to tell us what they met when they came,” Mrs. Gaul said.

“THEN & NOW” will be filmed at various locations to accommodate its guest and to make for a more diverse and interesting showing.

The first guest of the programme would be Eugenie Todman-Smith.

Mrs. Gaul, a Realtor, who minored in History while a university student and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in religion and a Masters in Human Resources, said she had the show in mind for a long time now.

“THEN & NOW” will air Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, 9:00 – 9:30PM with repeat showings on Wednesdays 8:00 – 8:30PM and Saturdays 8:00 – 8:30AM.

Each showing will run for half an hour with a fitness segment at the end with Traci Worth, Nutrition and Fitness Expert.

I look forward to this new talk show. Other than Doug Wheatley's show, there is very little sustained effort in promoting the Virgin Islands culture and history. I applaud Mrs. Thomas Gaul and wish her every success. To those who are thinking about posting negative comments, perhaps we can be more constructive by offering Mrs Thomas Gaul some suggestions and insights into what can be focused on. Congratulations, Mrs Thomas Gaul!

Violet Gaul's ability to communicate is style of its own. She is an intellectual who is creative, accurate and open minded. Offering 'public information' is a daunting task, that shouldn't be taken lightly and Mrs Gaul is just the professional to accomplish this task. While being witty and uncompromising this is forum is ever richer because of Violet's raw talenet.
