New stylish men’s clothing store opens its doors in RT
The store is neatly tucked away on Porter Road between Peebles Hospital and the BVI Beacon office, away from the bustle of the city centre and the problems that come with that. It offers the chic look for today’s man who wants to make a strong statement in the corporate world.
Speaking at a cocktail to mark the launch of the store on Friday October 23, 2015, owner of the establishment Marco De Wit said the idea for the store came about in February 2015 “and now within a year the business has come alive, hence, today is the opening and the official introduction of Marco’s.”
He said the feedback that the business has so far received has been excellent. “I am confident with the feedback we have had so far from the sneak previews we have had.”
The business operates out of an apartment which has been turned into a cosy setting where men can go for quality clothing, shoes and accessories such as ties, belts and other paraphernalia.
Pearlette N. Wintz, Managing Director of Marco’s Men’s Clothier said part of the experience is to have small numbers so that no one walks around looking like the other.
“We were going to house our non-profit here but it didn’t pan out. Then we had the space and I said to Marco well I don’t want to give it up to we have to come up with something that is going to be a win/win situation,” she said.
Wintz noted that the idea was to offer something that the public can appreciate for its innovation and difference and not just offer something that everyone else is offering.
“And I wanted it to cater to men, you know, because I’ve worked for men and I know they know what they want. Of course it is an apartment so we have to leave it how it is. So we decided to make it the ultimate bachelor pad, somewhere where guys can feel comfortable kicking back on the couch, he wants a beer or he wants some whiskey whatever,” said Wintz. “He knows that he wants quality and we are going to give it to him,” she said.
