BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- There will be a new political party contesting the next general election by the name of the Virgin Islands Innovative Association.

That’s according to social commentator and host of Honestly Speaking, Pastor Claude O. Skelton-Cline, during the April 21, 2026, airing of his show.

“In this election season, that has apparently already commenced, it looks like we’re going to have several groups running,” Skelton-Cline said. The general election is constitutionally due in 2027.

VI Innovative Association

In addition to the Virgin Islands Party (VIP), National Democratic Party (NDP), Skelton-Cline confidently revealed that the Virgin Islands Innovative Association is “doing a lot of work behind the scenes”.

The grouping he added is organised with a Chair, and while he said he did not have permission to reveal the Chair’s name, he did refer to the individual as “he”.

“They’re coming, and they will offer a slate of persons.”

‘A leadership deficit’

Skelton-Cline also said the All 13 Must Go movement is evolving.

“They are coming, they have some eight, nine candidates that they can speak for concretely now.”

He added that the rise of new political parties indicates a leadership deficit in the Virgin Islands.

“When you see so many people and so many parties forming, vying for authority or power politically, it tells me that there is a loss of trust and believability, there is a level of angst and anxiety in the country that signals to the people’s spirit that there is a void here wanting to be filled.”

He added that there are already those who have announced their intention to run independently “in the fifth and at-large”.

“This is a clear signal there’s a loss, there is a deficit, there is a void in this country relative to representation in the political stratosphere,” Shelton-Cline said.

They out their busy begging people to run with them and getting turned down straight. Also offering big money to potential candidates upwards of $250K in some instances. When persons are able to be bought we are in big trouble. That money spending from the barge contracts.

As someone who thinks and does not listen to propaganda. How are they begging when clearly they have a team and if they are paying $250k then the barge money done right there. 2 mil or however how much they were paid can only stretch so far. LMAO. I’m curious to see who they are. Then I’ll have an input. Until then I can’t listen to your here-say. Doesn’t add up . I also heard things but I’ll wait patiently to see who these new 13 are .

A party is a structure, framework, shell, vessel, etc, but it is the people in the party that matters. There is a dearth of strong, effective political leaders in the BVI currently..The BVI needs political leaders who will put country, who will work for the public interest, not self-interest. The BVI needs servant leadership. The BVI does not need people to see elected office as a passport personal gain; they need not apply. The vote of the electorate was always important but it more so now. The electorate must closely evaluate those who are standing for election. They must get the how, what, when, where and how answered before casting their votes. The electorate must stay actively engaged post election. They must stay active like white on rice or stink on. $…t. Be on the lookout for mirages, charlatans, exploiters, treasury raiders, frauds, opportunists,,etc.

Concur that people in a party is the animating force which drives and makes positive things happen. Not every one in a position is a leader. Some view their public sector leader(s) as oxymoron(s). How is a leader define?? A leader leads a group, organization, agency, etc., towards a new course, having critically analyzed the social , economic, political, cultural , etc conditions on the ground who then develops a plan of action with goals, objectives, strategies, tactics( GOST), etc, to take the entity he/she is leading to a better place. For the Virgin Islands(VI) , [British) this entails strengthening/deepening/diversifying the economy,; improving health services; improving education; improving and strengthening public safety( police, fire, security, ambulance); building and improving institutions; improving physical infrastructure( water, wastewater, storm water, road network, power, telecommunications, gas, etc),; strengthening and improving the social safety net (soft infrastructure); improving immigration and labour,; protecting and preserving the pristine environment, historical sites, historical facilities,,artifacts etc; improving governing accountability, transparency, etc and so on..

Moreover, it is not the party with alphabet soup of letters but the people within the party(s) doing the right things for the right reasons at the right time and at the right cost effectively, delivering the most services to the most people, resources permitting.

That’s a thoughtful framing of leadership—but it leans heavily on the managerial side of the equation. What feels underdeveloped is the leadership dimension itself: the ability to motivate, to inspire, influence and, when necessary, to take calculated risks that move people beyond mere compliance.
Leadership is not only about drafting GOST frameworks or identifying national priorities; it’s also about animating the people tasked with carrying them out. One might think of it in the way a basketball coach operates—not on the court, not scoring the points, but setting the tone, instilling belief, and placing the right individuals in the right roles at the right moment. In that sense, the distinction matters. Management (process, systems, tasks); leadership( vision, people direction) . Soft skills are often overlooked, but Fortune 500 companies understand their value—and that’s precisely why CEOs can move successfully across vastly different industries: it’s the ability to lead, align, and motivate people that ultimately drives results.

Good read. My focus was on top leadership, for top leadership has the ultimate responsibility for the organization performance. To me responsibility cannot be delegated away. A leader/managet/supervisor is responsible for the actions they have taken, as well as for the actions they should have taken but didn’t. Leadership is more about behavior than skill. A strong effective leader has vision, set the tone, leads by personal example, demonstrates integrity, honesty, and trust, deals fairly, exhibits fiduciary responsibility, etc. A leader’s word in action is more speaks far better than just words or words in print. A leader cannot be an effective leader but a poor manager. He or she must be both..” Similarly, a leader cannot be a good manager but a poor leader. Moreover, must distinguish between doing the right things and doing things right.

If this territory keeps electing the same criminals over and over again accepting the envelopes of cash that buy votes here every election season then nothing will change. The same broken ineffective politicians keep getting rotated around, given a differnt hat, or get told its their turn now. Meanwhile money gone, roads still a mess and getting worse, admin building nowhere in sight, and these jokers want airport money? A new party is a great idea as long as its all new people and they are fully investigated and are prepared to disclose or relinquish thier holdings in any local businesses. Otherwise I fear nothing will change just like it hasnt changed in the last 15 years or more.

Finally. Let us move on. think differently and put the Colonial style thinking of the Elites that VIP and NDP are stuck with, behind us.

Let's move on with new ideas new ways, less corruption, nepotism and simply putting our hands in cookie jar.

Let's move on from C.O.S-C and is twisted mind and mouth and the Colonially entrenched influencers like him that want to keep themselves at the trough, eager always for money for nothing.

Let's move on from using the same contractors that failed us and deliver gabage results over and over.

Let's move on and maintain what we have, the road sides, the electrical infrastucture the water distribution system, just about everything. Let's start to train and maintain and only pay when a job is inspected and it is done properly givign the people value for their money.

Let's move on and pay people for work and not expect people to work for next to nothing. Plantation based employment thinking should have been banished from our thinking in 1840. Let's move on. A proper minium, LIVING, wage.

    Let's move on.

Let's hope when ALL13AREGONE that we do not have 13 more colonial minded failiures to replace them.

    VI LET'S MOVE ON!

Maybe I am too pessimistic .I like what you said but I dont see it happening until the next 2 generations IF the Territory starts molding the young minds from right now. Unfortunately it will be hard pressed to find anyone with the mindset of the list you provided that would clearly put the Terrirtory on sound footing and be there for the next generation of BVIslanders

There is no reason to change the government. They have made some mistakes but they have also done some good things. We dwell too much on negativity. In the last election many VIP supporters didn’t go out to vote for what ever reason. NDP and others use the arrest of FAHIE to get support but the VIP still was able to get 6 seats. I believe this time around the VIP would be very difficult to beat.

Not too be negative. I hear you, but do not see you mention one thing that the VIP, "have also done" that is a good thing? You only mentioned Fahie. Are you sure which column he should be in?
Could you help us out and mention the good things so we do not have to dwell on the countless list of bad things.
