Antigua and Barbuda will soon have a new Governor-General.

Current Governor-General Dame Louise Lake-Tack will demit office on Aug. 13, as agreed upon with the country’s new government.

Lake-Tack, who served in the role since her appointment in 2007, was the country’s first female Governor General.

She will be succeeded by new Governor-General Dr Rodney Williams, a medical doctor by trade who has previously served in the country’s Parliament.

Williams will take the oaths of office on Aug. 14 in Parliament, and will deliver the country’s next Throne Speech on Aug. 15, “outlining the Government’s plan for development,” the government said in a statement.
