ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The 12th edition of the Deloitte/Ogier BVI Half Marathon will be held this Sunday, December 3, 2017 and will see runners on a new course.

Unlike previous years when the race started at the A.O. Shirley Ground and took athletes all the way to Pockwood Pond and return to the Mondo track for the finish, Sunday’s race will start and finish at the Tortola Sports Club (TSC) in Pasea Estate.

The race will comprise a course of 13.1 miles and a 10k.

The BVI Half Marathon starts at 7:00 A.M. and the 10k either 7:00am or 8:00am, according to race coordinator Kay Reddy.

The course

The Half Marathon course comprises two loops from TSC to Sea Cows Bay, around Sensus gym building and return to TSC. The 10k is just one loop to the gate at Sensus car park at Manuel Reef and back.

There is an entry fee of $20 and registration will be on Saturday December 2, 2017 at TSC between 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M.

There will be two water stops, opposite Peebles Hospital and at Sensus, which means there are 7 water stops in total along the course, about every 2 miles.

“DELOITTE/OGIER are determined to snag best waterstop back from Sensus the defending water-stop champions,” Ms Reddy highlighted.

There will be small cash prizes for the half marathon winners.

“Several fun categories may also be awarded depending if anyone runs dressed in galvanised or wellies.”

Corporate group and teams can enter at their discretion.
