New CoP to be here for Queen's Birthday celebration – Gov Duncan
Governor Duncan made the statement while responding to this news site's queries following a public event last week.
"He is coming in [the Territory] in April [2016] just before the Queen's birthday celebrations. So he'll be there for that," said Governor Duncan.
The annual celebration of the birth anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II will be held on April 21, 2016 instead of the usual month of June.
Did Governor Duncan mislead the public?
Speaking on the JTV Channel 55 show Spotlight with host Cromwell Smith aka Edju En ka on Tuesday January 12, 2016, Governor Duncan implied that a new Commissioner of Police (CoP) had been identified and that he was not coming from the United Kingdom.
“I hope that we are well underway to getting a good Commissioner who will come in and help build that capacity,” Mr Duncan said in referring to the issue of security in the Virgin Islands.
Asked how close he was to getting a Commissioner of Police, Governor Duncan said: “Well, I hope to see this man coming within a matter of a few months.”
Asked by Mr Smith whether the person would be coming from the UK, Governor Duncan said: “Actually not from the UK but his nationality will be revealed in the fullness of time.”
UK's Matthew replaces controversial Commissioner of Police David Morris who left in August 2015. An applicant to the post who was approved for the position, Robin Smith also of the UK, eventually turned down the offer.

Do any of you know if any of our fellow black cops here or else where applied for the position? Ask VINO, they can probably tell you. In the absence of pertinent information will you please stop playing the part of an empty barrel?
