ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Over 290 persons got out of bed well before 5:30 AM to participate in the Caribbean Insurers Limited (CIL) Walk/Run For A Cause on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

The event, a fundraiser for the VI Alzheimer’s Association, saw 297 runners and walkers starting in front of Queen Elizabeth II Park and making their way to the roundabout at Port Purcell before returning to QE II Park.

James Ramprashad and Vicki Francis were the first male and female respectively to complete the flat course.

Michael Killourhy and Ramprashad duked it out for most of the race, but the latter found an extra gear in his young legs to take the win. Reuben Stoby was third.

Rosmond Johnson was the second female to finish the race.

Other prizes

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) won the prize for the Largest Government Department while BDO took the prize for the Largest Private Sector Group.

The Youngest Participant was Dellah Matthew while the Oldest Participant was 84-year-old Robin Pinfold.

The First Place Winner With A Pet was Dellie Williams, along with her pet dog Ozziel.

Director of CIL Mrs Simone T. Montsanto said she was very impressed and pleased with the turnout, including from the government departments and corporate entities.

Additionally, Montsanto noted that this year’s event saw more families participating.
