ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The six year old National Democratic Party (NDP) Administration has invested millions in public relations from the days of Glover Parks, the Washington DC firm who tried to sell ‘ice to an Eskimo’ when the NDP was in office in 2003-2007, while some Ministers have snubbed the Government Information Services (GIS) and hired their own private public relations firms.

However, today July 18, 2017 there is a deafening silence from the normally media present Doctor The Honourable D. Orlando Smith (AL) Administration.

Royal run around; ‘Nobody knows’ - Arline T. Penn

A call was made by our newsroom today July 18, 2017 to the Director of Communications Mrs Arline T. Penn and when asked if the Government has a response to BVI Airways’ announcement today that they laid off all staff and blamed the Government for them not flying, she said “NO.”

When asked whether we should speak to the Premier, Mrs Penn said “NO”, as she did not speak to him “as yet on the matter” and she will speak to him and get back to us.

When asked if we should speak to the Permanent Secretary (PS) Mr Brodrick Penn since the Premier and the Director of Communications had no answers, Mrs Penn reported that the PS was out of office. When asked who was the Deputy, Mrs Penn reported that the Deputy Secretary is Elvia Smith-Maduro and she placed the caller on hold.

No information from government

When Mrs Penn returned on the telephone, she said the Deputy Secretary Smith-Maduro had “left for the day.”

Our newsroom was not giving up so we asked for a number for the new well paid publicist Mrs Nadia J.  Harris, who was hired a few weeks ago to help the Premier with communication especially, on social media, but Mrs Penn reported not to have a contact number for her or could not advise us how to get in contact with Mrs Harris.

Cows will fly first

Today in a bombshell media statement sent to selective media houses, the bankrupt BVI Airways, who the Dr Smith Administration bailed out with some $7.2Million of tax payers funds in exchange for direct flights between Miami and Beef Island, said it is still short on cash and laid off all staff, including pilots and flight attendants.

It blamed the NDP Government for having to take this action as it claimed the Government did not fulfil some obligations at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport.

Leader of the Opposition Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has warned the public that cows will fly over the moon before BVI Airways flies. Today July 18, 2017 Hon Fahie warned that this matter is “serious” and we need nothing but the truth.

That's the NDP for you. It's so shameful. Kareem was begging them for a raise when he was there. They couldn't find one cent to give him now they are paying big money to someone else not from here. They like outsiders man. They are certainly not for the people.

NDP are far from embarrassed. When campaign season start they know you all just want a full belly and pocket change. They will be the next govt after the next snap election catches everyone else broke and unprepared. They will outspend everyone on marketing and flood the place with goodies like they did last time. BVI ppl make noise for two days then its on to something else.

Can I shake your hand? You hit the nail on the head. All of the atrocities in this situation are so there and people sounding off like crazy now but it will come down to nothing at the end of the day. 7 mill handed over last year, vanished into thin air. Kaput! The government has not a thing to show for it. Mark my words though. The electorate will run and vote NDP "all the way" as they like to say when elections snap or otherwise comes around again. Suckers for punishment. Silly fools. Shortsightedness. Love of self not country.

This is a problem of the government own making. Ray Charles could see clearly that this was a bad use of taxpayers money. What in the world was our elected officials was thinking about when they give away $7.3M of taxpayer money to a troubled, bankrupt airline with a poor track record. Though the intent was noble, it was a poor decision. Now, government is in a pickle. It has no good choices. It is in a Hobson's choice situation. BVI Airways wants more money to get airborne.

But should taxpayers cough up more money since it already invested $7.3M in this bad deal? Should government stay put and tell BVI Airways to start flying. But wait. BVI Airways says it is dead broke. Peronsally, I wouldn't give them an extra wooden nickel. BVI Airways need to go get a loan and meet their contractual obligation. BVI taxpayers are not in the loan business. And even if they were, they should not be loaning money to high risks borrowers. Glad it it is not my decision to make. Damn if you and damn you don't. Doc would not want to be you. You are saddled with sleepless nights, migraine causing, blood pressure rising..........etc problem. Physician heal thyself.

Why am i not surprised! I can't remember a sitting administration that wasted that much of taxpayers money in such reckless manner.. Money certainly does not grow on trees and as taxpayers we sweat and toil night and day and are being compelled to pay tax. Yet, this administration has no regard for how hard we work because "our" money are being spent without no taught for the future of our children. $7 millions would have been well spent on building a few more public tennis courts (in districts other than east end), etc..

The sad thing is, this administration keep on looking for ways to tax us... the territory is in a sad state!

Shut your pup up. What the Fregg UK got to come to do? All you always think white is right just like how them fooled you that Noah hauled in two of each animal in an ark, including two black worms, two black ants, two red ants, two kee-lee-kee-lee, two scorpions and two ladybirds. What ark did all these fit into? How did he know what their meal was to be for 40 days and 40 nights? They should have banged on Noah's door and eat all they found inside. Leave the UK out of our affairs. They do not have any plan to help us, always to enslave us. Bring them nuh. We will do the Rabbit dance on them; wait. Stop calling for the t****fing mF**er Queen and that blood-crawling nation UK to come here. They been here and let them now fry in England in their own Brexit fat now. Go home, Queen!!

Forbidden Truth, and you have no evidence of which you speak, only speculation and allegations. Wait for someone to point to a conclusory wrongdoing before you ask the people to go in the streets to protest. The only thing the people want to go in the streets now for is to go Jouvert. What go in sweet in goat mouth does pepper he bottom. So let the pepper start to bun first before you make all the people in the streets who going to protest get sued for slandering the leader's name.
