BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- Outspoken commentator and clergyman Claude O. Skelton-Cline is publicly calling on the National Democratic Party (NDP) and its political allies to urgently settle the issue of leadership, warning that their failure to do so threatens any hope of political relevance or effective governance.

“If we don’t know who’s leading, we ain’t following,” he said on his Honestly Speaking broadcast aired on ZBVI 780 AM on Monday, 20 May 2025—directed at the NDP’s leadership.

“Let me tell the National Democratic Party something, the first thing you got to go do is choose a leader. That’s the first thing you have to go do. There is no followership if we don’t know who the leadership is.”

You all upset me!

The former government consultant and social commentator made it clear that his criticism was rooted in concern, not disdain. Addressing not only the NDP but its sister opposition parties, including the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM), the Virgin Islands Party (VIP), and the newly formed Alliance, Skelton-Cline described his disappointment in deeply personal terms.

“You all upset me; Because you’re my people. All of you — PVIM, Alliance, VIP — all of you. But some of the things that we’re doing don’t make no sense.”

He was adamant, the Virgin Islands remains a “top-down country,” where leadership, for better or worse, sets the tone and trajectory of public support and national direction.

“This is a top-down country. We follow leadership. It shouldn’t be that way. It don’t have to be that way. That’s just the way it is right now,” he said, suggesting that while he may disagree with the model, it remains the operative political culture.

With this in mind, he doubled down to reiterate “... until you do that, you can talk all you want. If we don’t know who’s leading, we ain’t following.”

The NDP recently re-united with the PVIM; however, it is unclear who is really the leader.

The Alliance appears to be led by Opposition Leader Hon Myron V. Walwyn (R6), but he has already been outrightly rejected at the polls in his bid for premiership and may be seen as damaged goods.

Unbelievable , the very thing that caused the Party to splinter (chosing and coalescing around a leader) they dont think is enough of a priority to get done as the first order of business. That leaves the Public to speculate that the they are unable to resolve this issue and the same egos are at play.

Myron being damaged goods has nothing to do with where his parents are from. The irony is that the same two men that joined him in the Alliance were with Ms P and PVIM campaigning last elections reminding people that Myron is from Antigua not BVI. It's amazing how one-sided stories are told right? Now 2 years later Miss P and the same two PVIM guys are great fans of Myron? Myron will learn a hard lesson that there is no such thing as a one-man army. He is intelligent and can do some good things but teamwork makes the dream work. That Alliance play will go down as the stupidest political move in history just wait, watch and see.

Marlon was never elected as the leader of NDP. After the 2019 internal elections, Myron was elected Chairman and Marlon Deputy. After they lost the general elections in 2019, Myron stepped down as Chairman and Marlon became the defacto Chairman, but he was never elected. In order to move forward, they need to have fresh internal elections. Myron will regret leaving the NDP to join with those two gentlemen who bring nothing to the table. Mather is a one-termer and Turnbull is a confusion maker, just pull his file. Wherever he is, there is total confusion but it's never his fault.

Doesn't matter who your leader is. Why is any one listening to C.O.S-C and why do publicatons keep spreading his garbage.
