CAPOON’S BAY, Tortola, VI – First District representative Honourable Andrew A. Fahie slammed the National Democratic Party (NDP) Government as “a pack of bullies” citing their trend for bringing legislation “in a hurry” and for introducing projects that are already decided upon.

According to Hon Fahie, while there is a struggle to ensure that democracy is what it should be in the Virgin Islands, he is convinced that the current administration, especially on the part of certain ministers, is nothing but a ‘Pack of Bullies’.
He made the scathing statement in an exclusive interview with Virgin Islands News Online (VINO).

“…when we reach to a point where we have a mindset of elimination at all cost no matter who it hurts then we have reached to a style of politics that this Territory has never seen. You have a lot of persons afraid to speak,” Hon Fahie told this news site.

According to Hon Fahie the only show of democracy that has been displayed thus far with the current NDP administration for the most part was during the period of the most recent territorial elections when persons were allowed to cast their votes. “After that the minority start to control,” he alleged.

“We have a form of democracy but it doesn’t exist, and I don’t say this loosely. Look at all the projects they do, by the time they bring it to the people it’s already decided. Whatever programme whenever they speak to the people they have already decided,” he further stated.

One example used by the First District Representative to justify his position was that of the National Health Insurance (NHI). “Whether it is good or bad, I don’t know. We are in the House representing people, we have some level of intelligence. The first draft of that bill should have come to the House then the marketing would be put in place then we could listen to the radio and find out truly if someone has fibroids big as sugar apple, if this thing will really work as they are saying,” said Hon Fahie.

He said that there is a lot of marketing and pushing of the NHI and there is no accompanying first draft legislation to support what is being propelled by the NDP government. “What is really happening now is that you are going to bring the legislation now in a hurry, ram it through the House and then pass it and before we know now, we would be looking back at the mistakes of it because the cart went before the horse.”

Hon: Fahie has forgotten who is in control of the government.

Did Fahie forget it was VIP who the people felt were being held as hostages and were crying in the streets, and then went to the polls and voted them out? We thought Fraser's mustache would fall off and O'Neal looked as though he would have a stroke. No, the NDP are not as bullish as VIP who act like henchmen. If you didn't agree with them you were up the creek without a paddle.

That poor speech T T dem hang down from all the milking by all these news sites. Enough already. It could be summed up in one story "Hi I'm Andrew Fahie, I've been in Government before, I miss it and I want to go back. Don't ask me what I will do once I get back just put me back and I'll be a champion of the people and take care of the lil man, don't ask me to elaborate just fight the power and stick with me, I'm the man, me, you and the Great God of the Universe will take this country forward. Again, I'm not sure exactly how but I know we will because I can feel it. Let's do this, not sure what we doing but we going do it because I'm fired up, I want back my seat! Thanks fellow 1st District Voters."

I personally agree with Hon. Fahie. That National Health Insurance will be problems for the people of this territory. The NDP Government is far above the people who elected them. A set of bullies indeed, When electrician comes around, they will be in the face of the poor people and after election when they met them they turn their head in another direction. Poor people
