VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- The National Democratic Party, referred to by many as NDP 1, and Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM), referred to as NDP 2, have been called out for their hypocrisy by At Large Representative Hon Carvin Malone.

Out of NDP breakup came PVIM

It was in late 2018 that there was a major fallout in the NDP, which resulted in several resignations and the formation of PVIM.

But even before word got out about the breakup, the situation was likened to the nursery poem Humpty Dumpty, as many were optimistic that the party was headed for a permanent breakup.

For the 2023 elections; however, the two parties conveniently explored the possibility of a merger and after neither party could settle on who would lead a re-united NDP, talks collapsed.

This has left both parties scrambling to get a full slate.

NDP 1&2 try to mend

In the case of the NDP, it has seen the return of Kedrick D. Pickering, who had split from the party in 2019 following a fallout with its former chairman Myron V. Walwyn.

This has caused Hon Malone to quip about the NDP and PVIM debacle being like Humpty Dumpty.

“And here it is again, I remind you that Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the king’s horses and all the kings’ men could not put NDP 1 and NDP 2 together again,” Hon Malone joked during the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) campaign launch on Virgin Gorda on Friday, March 17, 2023.

Hon Malone further stated that the VIP has a strong record to defend and will be doing so in the face of untruths being spread especially by NDP members.

“They tried to put one and one together, and they coming up with 3 and 4 and then try to fool [you], how is this going to work?”

‘I have seen never come to an end’- Hon Malone

Hon Malone joked again that he has seen never come to an end.

“You have a Minister who challenged our last Premier to come At Large because if you want to prove yourself come At Large. After he was done [At Large] he went into the district,” Hon Malone said, referring to the controversial former Education Minister Myron V. Walwyn, who had challenged former Premier Andrew A. Fahie to run At Large.

Mr Walwyn ended up suffering a heavy defeat at the February 25, 2019, General Elections as an At Large candidate and has now moved to run for a Sixth District seat in the 2023 elections.

“You have two members who said they would never work together again and what happened? They are together again. We have seen never come to an end,” Hon Malone remarked in referring to Dr Pickering and Mr Walwyn ending up back on the same NDP team.

He emphasised that the parties have been resorting to trying to fool the people about the VIP’s performance in office but the party will be defending its record.

“But we have a proud record, a stalwart record that we have to defend,” Hon Malone stated.

@ Bevy. Yes, we do hear things. VIP is always picking the kind of fights that leads to their failures. The last time it was Andrew & Shay wonder who started the corruption talk. Now again the Premier says that there should be no mud-slaying talks. And who starts it? The VIP. If Carvin wants to talk, why don`t he say all his party settle for when Fahie was in charge. everyone has a right to run for office without all these negative crap

Pay attention to the blog and bloggers, they are the streets, the ghettos,, the families and work places.. I remember the XPremier saying he doesn't read blogs because its 1 person blogging 10 times, I wonder if he ever figure out is that one blogger finding ten different ways to tell him to warn him, they are onto you, change your ways, he ignore the blogs and bloggers and end up in Pink suit...Carvin you are a good man, I like you, but the same message for you, pay attention to the blogs and the bloggers, you do not stand a chance..No disrespect. they are the streets, the ghettos, the work place, and the homes, All politicians, pay attention..

People like you really amaze some of us. The BVI seems to be a place where people like you love who you love no matter if they are good or not and hate who you hate no matter if they are good or bad. Carvin must shut up and take it easy but not Myron who is arrested and may go to jail on corruption charges and you feel comfortable with this kind of mentality. SMDH. Well, I am on the streets also and that isn't how where I hang out feels about Carvin. If he wins or loses, I am supporting him so leave him alone and let him talk.

Take it from me, there is an inner old boys and girls club within both the PVIM & NDP that meet regularly in secret from the other members behind closed doors. Their aim is to use all these newcomers on both tickets to help who all they really want to be elected to get elected by the people and then when they win, they reunite the two inner circle members of the two parties which really is the old NDP. I hope the newcomers as candidates on both parties wake up and realize the game within the game. It is all about power. It is so sad. It is not about country nor the people although they are promoting it that way. VOTERS BE FULLY AWOKE & AWARE!!!

Maybe you all need to focus on ayo back yard, drink water and mind ayo business and speak on the issues at hand and not what the other parties can and cannot get together. It's disgusting how these parties are behaving with the mudslinging with such a short time to campaign.

It is concerning when I see how some of these well-organized attacks and rushed reports against the VIP has come now only during election time to try to negatively influence the people's mind against the VIP. For this reason, I am sticking with them because they helped thousands of people whether they were VIP supporters or not during difficult times and we should not be ungrateful.

Let us look at NHi which was implemented by the NDP. It was not a bad venture but the intent was bad and the way it was implemented was bad. It started in millions of dollars in the red and it remains there without giving the people proper health insurance coverage home and abroad. However it has made many NDP and PVIM friends and family enormously rich at the expense of the people which seems to have been the plan. Now those same friends and family can finance the NDP and PVIM (same party) election campaign and live well. They found a legal way to steal while we the people suffer and die for want. This is why they hate the VIP because they try to balance the scale between the haves and haves not. This is why my family and I are voting VIP ALL THE WAY!

What I have noticed is the NDP and their supporters and some of PVIM are more verbal and aggressive than VIP supporters, so their propaganda gets out quicker and more dominant, so people tend to believe them but when their side is placed under a microscope, they also rush to defend the undefendable. When I sit back quietly and block out all the noise, I have decided to weigh all the facts and vote VIP all the way this time. The NDP has robbed us over and over and over again and somehow always gets away with it and become rich on the backs of the people. They avoid audit reports. They avoid COI reports. This is mysterious. The only NDP that ever got in trouble is Myron. This is indeed mysterious. Look at the $8 million dollar plane heist. Look at NHI and millions of dollars gone in friends and families' pockets while we the people are left to suffer or die due to no proper health insurance locally and abroad. Look at SSB land ridiculous land purchases. Look at who all they bought lands from and the ridiculous purchase prices. Look at the ridiculous contracts of over seventy thousand dollars a month at pasea to house our teachers and students to make a rich NDP friend supporter get even more money at the health and safety expense of our children. Now look at whenever they blame the VIP for questionable actions it is always where many residents legitimately benefit whether they support VIP or not. No one is perfect but it is for this reason I will not fall for their rhetoric anymore and vote for the lesser evil of them. VIP is the better option.

The plane money can come no where to the 62million covid relief money that were given to family and friend with AF the former leader of the VIP. So please re-examine yourself. What aboit the scholarship tution monies given out without proper applocation process, what about the non fisherman persons that got stimuls that not a fisher man, what about the non farmers that got stimulus money that are not farmers

Ask the VIP why the roads aint fix, ask the VIP why the sewage aint fix, ask the VIP why the incenerator aint fix?, ask the VIP why the bushes aint cut throughout the territory, ask the VIP why no new investors or developers came to advance the country in Tourism, ask the VIP why the educational system has not advanced further?

Ask the VIP why during covid so much business went to the USVI from the tourism sector? Ask the VIP why the clinic in Virgin Gorda not operating, ask the VIP what was the readon for spending unecessary money for changing the flow of traffic direction in town

Ask the VIP why no measures in place to help the middle class in the cost of living, ask the VIP why no stop light placed in west end road strech after you past pockwood pond,

Elections is not a surprise so there is no reason why NDP & PVIM, especially NDP do not to have a full slate. This shows poor leadership and a lack of trust in leadership. This shows how they would govern if they won. For these reasons my family and I met and decided that all twenty-five of us will vote VIP this time for the first ever. They are not perfect but they weathered a lot of storms as best as could be especially with covid the worse pandemic is the last 100 years.

This is why I hate politics. When Myron was begging Andrew to run at large everybody was siding with him but now because Myron lost he changed his philosophy and trying to find what he sees as a soft target by going at Alvera. Why doesn't he attack Marlon for staying within his safety net by running for a district. Politics is all lies and games and people seem to agree and disagree based on who they like. Too many hypocrits and people with fickle point of views. We deserve the government we get.

That is because Andrew talk to much. He was attacking Myron and still is.

Alvera let the party down when she crossed the floor as she got into office after last election. No conversation, just jumped ship. Probably the party want to teach her not to be jumping and ain't know where she was going.

I feel that her supporters should still give their atlarge vote to either NDP or PVIM, as VIP only using her.

NDP and PVIM will work together to get rid of VIP.. Bam. The now Premier will be the new leader of a strong opposition. We need that...Aint no way on this planet VIP can win more than 6 seats. Not in this BVI for sure . . Lets be optimistic in favor of VIP. We giving them #4 -#5 - and 2 at large. Which they will be lucky to get one..Lets throwing #1, which I doubt because Karl too soft for these ruff tough times, this looks like the new independent guy, but giving them Karl still, lets throwing Alvera as a favour Though Myron going beat her bad in Purcell..In all possibility and Scenarios created in favour of VIP. They struggling to get 5 seats..

40 years of mismanagement and elaborate pork spending, corruption and transnational illicit drug trafficking within the boarders of the VI are the sins of all major party and candidates running now!

If you was part of the last 40 years of government, including VIP, NDP, and the lot, you have no moral authority to challenge any of 13 seats!

If you was in support of Miami connections you have no moral authority.

If you are under investigation for financial crimes or have spent time in prison for the same you have no moral authority!

If the VI chooses to send criminals to the house, you deserve to loose your country!!

one problem I have had with VIP was when they locked out persons who were overseas during covid lockdown. It had persons who went overseas for medical purposes not offered in the BVI and they were locked out just because they are on work permit or exempt whereas the locals were allowed to return whether they were living here or not. This was the only unfairness I see with the VIP. I understand they had to look out for their own but it had a few mothers who they could have allowed to return back to be with their kids during the lockdown.

The record is there for a blind man to see and for the deaf to hear. COI, every single one can be accessed online. House of Assembly meetings, every single one can be accessed online and lots of other media coverage. So VIP may think the populace is sleeping, but we are wide awake. We know that there are lots of voters who were enticed handsomely to vote them back in, but the majority will vote their conscience. All the big talkers now in VIP were absent for the last three and a quarter years. Should they be successful for that failed three and a quarter years because they have found their voices now?
