NDP 1 & NDP 2 still can’t get together again!- Hon Carvin Malone

Out of NDP breakup came PVIM
It was in late 2018 that there was a major fallout in the NDP, which resulted in several resignations and the formation of PVIM.
But even before word got out about the breakup, the situation was likened to the nursery poem Humpty Dumpty, as many were optimistic that the party was headed for a permanent breakup.
For the 2023 elections; however, the two parties conveniently explored the possibility of a merger and after neither party could settle on who would lead a re-united NDP, talks collapsed.
This has left both parties scrambling to get a full slate.
NDP 1&2 try to mend
In the case of the NDP, it has seen the return of Kedrick D. Pickering, who had split from the party in 2019 following a fallout with its former chairman Myron V. Walwyn.
This has caused Hon Malone to quip about the NDP and PVIM debacle being like Humpty Dumpty.
“And here it is again, I remind you that Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the king’s horses and all the kings’ men could not put NDP 1 and NDP 2 together again,” Hon Malone joked during the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) campaign launch on Virgin Gorda on Friday, March 17, 2023.
Hon Malone further stated that the VIP has a strong record to defend and will be doing so in the face of untruths being spread especially by NDP members.
“They tried to put one and one together, and they coming up with 3 and 4 and then try to fool [you], how is this going to work?”
‘I have seen never come to an end’- Hon Malone
Hon Malone joked again that he has seen never come to an end.
“You have a Minister who challenged our last Premier to come At Large because if you want to prove yourself come At Large. After he was done [At Large] he went into the district,” Hon Malone said, referring to the controversial former Education Minister Myron V. Walwyn, who had challenged former Premier Andrew A. Fahie to run At Large.
Mr Walwyn ended up suffering a heavy defeat at the February 25, 2019, General Elections as an At Large candidate and has now moved to run for a Sixth District seat in the 2023 elections.
“You have two members who said they would never work together again and what happened? They are together again. We have seen never come to an end,” Hon Malone remarked in referring to Dr Pickering and Mr Walwyn ending up back on the same NDP team.
He emphasised that the parties have been resorting to trying to fool the people about the VIP’s performance in office but the party will be defending its record.
“But we have a proud record, a stalwart record that we have to defend,” Hon Malone stated.

Alvera let the party down when she crossed the floor as she got into office after last election. No conversation, just jumped ship. Probably the party want to teach her not to be jumping and ain't know where she was going.
I feel that her supporters should still give their atlarge vote to either NDP or PVIM, as VIP only using her.
If you was part of the last 40 years of government, including VIP, NDP, and the lot, you have no moral authority to challenge any of 13 seats!
If you was in support of Miami connections you have no moral authority.
If you are under investigation for financial crimes or have spent time in prison for the same you have no moral authority!
If the VI chooses to send criminals to the house, you deserve to loose your country!!
So what you say for Myron running and being arrested for alleged corruption. Ayo is a set of hypocrites.
You guys think we the people of the virgin islands are so dumb that y'all running again. Some still under investigation yet they have the nerve to actually run again. People, y'all don't see that these folks just want extra money in their pockets and all the previlege that comes with being in Government. All of them been in Government before and stole and wasted our tax payers dollars and sold out our country. you don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure stuff out. Just think, it's not illegal to think people. Stop letting these people fool us off...enough is enough.
