VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- A truncated weekend of National League football action was highlighted by Sugar Boys FC increasing their win streak to six, whilst VG United got back to winning ways in front of their home crowd.

Only two games took place over the weekend, with Sugar Boys cruising to a 5-0 win against Positive FC in a game that was stopped by the Referee just before halftime at East End on Saturday, November 26, 2022. A series of injuries meant Positive FC could not field enough players for the game to continue.

By the time the decision was made, Derol Redhead had already scored twice (6th and 30th mins) to become the current league-leading scorer with nine goals.

“They (Positive) had only started with nine and then were reduced to just six,” commented Redhead, “but we were happy to come away with the three points and to keep our winning streak going. Our aim is to be champions again, so coming out on top just keeps us going towards our plan.”

The other goal scorers were Roland Roberts (27th), Alejandro Sanchez (29th) and Keron Daniel (31st).

‘Ugly win’ for VG United

Virgin Gorda United then got back into winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Islanders FC in front of their home fans on the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground on Sunday, November 27, 2022.

The only goal of the game came in the 86th minute from Adrian Padilla Adams.

“It wasn’t one of our best games,” noted Manager Jermain Abrams. “We had not played for a few weeks, and it was definitely an ugly win. We did not play our best, did not capitalise on our chances, but dominated possession, managed the all-important goal, and will take the three points. We are thankful for that!”

Wednesday night, November 30, 2022, sees a commemorative match take place at the East End / Long Look venue between a VI team and The Rest, to recognise the 150th anniversary of the first ever international match that took place in 1872 when England faced Scotland.

There will also be a series of School games starting at 3:45pm, with the main game kicking off at 6:30pm.

I am not affiliated with football but I go to watch the games now and then. The football Association have a lot of problems going on in their arena it seems, their very own loyal referee association is asking for $10.00 raise of pay, and they refused them, but its rather strange that a member of the executive body find it possible to bring in their family members to referee the game. It will cost the association airfare for to ladies accommodation and food for to two ST.KITTS referees the game, which is much more money than $10.00 this is utter bull S**t.
Why can’t the executive members meet with the referee and solve the problem before it reaches to CONCACAF or FIFA. This situation can be solved it’s an easy situation but they see it fit is to bring in their family, how can this be fair to me it is a big disrespect to the BVI referees.
But the big mouth member the St.Kitts one from VG he quick to say that he's going to fire them I guess he can say it because his family is here to take the referees spot I hope the local referee guys stand up for what they believe in lets us see how long that will bring them in for it will cost them more. Too many wrong things are going on in the BVIFA they need to be audit with FIFA money. Too many rats in there minding cheese

@hmmm there’s no damn facts to get its reality they just refuse to give them the raised because football executive members have their families refereeing to get the money so how can the referee who live here get the raised. I want to be apart of the committee to get the some money to since it's a free for all. The CC President is a very smart man free lancing I swear I see him in Anegarda Lobster Fest he took my picture too.
