NANNY CAY, VI- Nanny Cay Resort and Marina is setting the standard for environmentally friendly waste management in the hospitality and marine industry in the Virgin Islands.

The resort has taken a significant step towards sustainability with the introduction of a new fully electric self-loading and dumping garbage truck.

Nanny Cay Resort and Marina made the proud revelation on its Facebook page today, February 6, 2024.

“This innovative addition not only demonstrates the resort's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint but also sets a new standard for environmentally friendly waste management in the hospitality and marine industry.

    How does it 'self load'? Isnt a garbage dump just that? A place for humans to dump their garbage?

    Anyway, seems lkke some cheap chinese made equipment. Hopefully it doesnt end up with the rest of the chinese junk NDP brought in a few years back.

    What is eco-friendly about this? Ok, maybe the actual emissions are a bit lower during the minor part of the consumption chain that is physically moving the waste from one spot (nanny cay) to another (the dump, where it will be burned), but 1) still charging it using diesel-generated electricity and 2) the issue is the actual waste in the first place.
