NAGICO hosting major Community Run/Walk in support of youth empowerment

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- NAGICO Insurances has partnered with the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) and a wide cross-section of corporate sponsors to host the NAGICO Insurances 2 Mile Run/Walk With A Purpose, an initiative aimed at promoting healthy living while supporting youth development across the Virgin Islands.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2026, at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College Grounds in Paraquita Bay, with activities commencing at 6:30 AM. Residents, families, fitness enthusiasts and corporate teams are being encouraged to come out in large numbers and be part of what is expected to be an energetic and impactful community event.

'Bringing people together'

Managing Director of NAGICO Insurances, Shan Mohamed, said in a press release that the company remains deeply committed to initiatives that positively impact communities and create opportunities for young people.

“At NAGICO, we believe corporate responsibility extends far beyond business. This event is about bringing people together for a meaningful cause while investing in the future of our young people through the Youth Empowerment Programme. We are proud to stand alongside our partners and the wider community in support of an initiative that promotes wellness, unity and opportunity,” Mohamed stated.

He added that the company was pleased with the overwhelming support already being shown by corporate partners and members of the public ahead of the event.

'Real opportunities for young people to grow'

Deputy Director of YEP, Bianca J. Dougan, expressed sincere gratitude to NAGICO Insurances and all partners involved in selecting YEP as a beneficiary of the walk/run initiative.

“We are truly honoured to have been chosen as recipients of the funds raised through this meaningful event. Initiatives like these not only promote health and community spirit, but also create real opportunities for young people to grow, develop and reach their full potential. The support from NAGICO and the wider community will go a long way in strengthening the work we continue to do through the Youth Empowerment Project,” Dougan stated.

She added that the partnership reflects the importance of collaboration in creating positive change and empowering the next generation through impactful programmes and opportunities.

Registration active

The Run/Walk forms part of broader efforts to raise awareness about the importance of youth empowerment while fostering community engagement through health and fitness activities.

Participants are being encouraged to register early via https://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=423804 as excitement continues to build around the community-focused initiative.

Registration is set at $20, while children aged 16 and under will be allowed to participate free of charge. Each registered participant will receive an official race T-shirt and race bib, with prizes also up for grabs.

Late registration will also be facilitated between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM on the morning of the event.
