THE VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – Managing Director of Nagico Insurances Mr Shan Mohamed said that his company hopes to continue to expand its services in Virgin Gorda with a view to growing in revenue which will enable it to spend more on the island.

He was speaking with this news site in an interview yesterday December 29, 2014. The company on December 18, 2014 had a customer appreciation event at its Virgin Gorda office where staff and management of the company mingled with customers.

“We had opened up a branch in April 2013. We have spent a significant amount of funds to refurbish an old building…we rented the building which had several sections but we decided we are going to spend some $100,000 to make it a comfortable place so that our customers when they walk in would feel like they are in a modern office,” he said.

“The amount of money we spent reflects our commitment to having a stable, long term presence in Virgin Gorda,” he said.

“We have had many clients for years [in Virgin Gorda] who have been asking us when we are going to make things easier in terms of accessibility and I am quite pleased that we have done so,” he said.

Mohamed went on to say that the company has hired three persons from Virgin Gorda to manage to manage the office. “We have seen growth of some 30 percent in premiums and [as such] we wanted to say to our customers thank you and we decided to do some giveaways and some promotions,” he said.

Mohamed said too that it was an opportunity for the people of Virgin Gorda to interact with staff of Nagico whom they might have been dealing with over the phone for some time.

“Our plan is to strengthen our presence next year and see how best we can continue to serve the Virgin Gorda community and to grow our business. At the end of the day we want to grow the business so that we could have more money to spend in Virgin Gorda as well,” he said.

In a press release, the company said that since the opening of the office in 2013, Nagico Insurances has continued providing contributions to the Virgin Gorda community. It said too that customers commended NAGICO Insurances for their foresight to have their full suite of products offered on Virgin Gorda without the hassle, time and financial constraints of having to travel to Tortola.

“Last year, Nagico Insurances provided free health screening that benefited 71 persons and in 2014 provided a stove to the elderly home which will ensure the residents have access to warm meals,” said the release.

"Nagico Insurances has over the years demonstrated our commitment to help the community in various ways and in Virgin Gorda we will continue to do so. As a corporate citizen, we want to ensure that we contribute to the development of Virgin Gorda and the Virgin Islands as a whole. The right thing to do is to support the community which has been supportive of Nagico Insurances over the years," Mr. Mohamed pledged.

Too many fraudulent and over priced estimates submitted. Many persons have expressed positive feedback about this community oriented company. Please continue to serve this community and thank you for bring the cost of insurance down in the BVI. many of us remember the high cost we had to pay the people next door, who can suddenly now reduce cost.
