‘My father would be happy with choice of Fraser as Chairman’-Perry Stoutt
Mr. Stoutt a businessman and the eldest of three sons of the late and first Chief Minister further stated, yesterday June 2, 2014 that he believed that Third District Representative Hon Julian Fraser RA was the best choice to lead the VIP – the party of his late father.
“Of the persons that were running Mr Fraser is the best choice. Obviously the people in the party saw it that way also because he [was victorious] at the elections that took place. He is the kind of person that is capable of making tough decisions and so in my opinion of the persons that were running he is the best choice,” he said
Mr. Stoutt’s father along with many others founded the VIP in 1971 and H. Lavity Stout become the first Chairman. Upon his death in 1995 Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal OBE became its second Chairman and was never challenged for the seat and served from 1995-2014.
Last week on 28, May 2014 inline with the party’s constitution a new Chairman, in the person of Third District Representative Hon. Julian Fraser RA was elected by party delegates to replace Hon. O’Neal who indicated he will not seek reelection.
Up to post time efforts to reach Hon Fraser for a reaction to the statements by Perry L.S. Stoutt proved futile.
Fraser flooded with congratulations
A source closed to the new Chairman told this news site that Hon. Fraser since his election as VIP Boss has been flooded with many wishes of congratulations from ordinary residents of all walks of life of the Virgin Islands and United States Virgin Islands.
Calls of best wishes even came from some regional Opposition parties, and other non-government organizations.
In his first speech as Chairman of the Opposition VIP Hon. Fraser assured residents that there will be no victimization under a Fraser Administration and that the business community has nothing to fear.
If the Virgin Islands Party wins the next general election constitutionally due by November 2015 and Hon. Fraser regains his seat he will be the next Premier of the British Overseas Territory becoming only the third person to hold that title.

You NDP still with these campaign propaganda? We now have the facts: The NDP told us VIP emptied the Reserves, we now find out that they lied. The NDP told us the VIP left the country broke, we now find out that they lied after learning about the many over priced consultants, airport & port multimillion dollar projects, over priced one night dinner & speechwriter; 10yr old millions in payment to cronies for airport; over priced manse road, Craft Alive project, Georgie Hill, & many more projects by the NDP.
It is true the people in the party knows what they want in a leader who can be trusted and knows what he's all about and not get any surprises nor tricks.
I to feel that Hon. H. Lavity Stoutt would have been happy that Hon. Fraser is Chairman. Mr. Stoutt's death was a shock to us in all 9 districts and Internationally. Hon. Ralph T. O’Neal OBE became chairman and was never challenged but faced quite a lot of crap from within the party but manage to steer the ship through. But I am hoping and praying that the new Chairman don't take the nonsense like Ralph and sweet problems under the table like what went down last election... Yea, it's still fresh in some of our minds to see how such plans were in place to take out Dancia and others and cause the VIP not to return to office... That can't happen again..
