MSMEs to receive 'additional grants' ahead of Christmas- Hon Lorna G. Smith

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Virgin Islands will benefit from a significant boost as Junior Minister for Financial Services, Economic Development, and Digital Transformation, Lorna G. Smith (AL), OBE, has announced additional grants to be offered before Christmas.

Additional grants to be distributed before Christmas 

The minister made this announcement during a press conference on Friday, December 12, 2025, stating, "I’m happy" to share that additional grants will be distributed before Christmas. 

Launched in 2024, the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Grant Programme has already provided numerous small business owners across the Virgin Islands with financial incentives to enhance their businesses.

Financial support increased to 300K

According to an article published on April 16, 2025, by Virgin Islands News Online, grants will range from $1,000 to $7,000, depending on the applicant's needs and the potential impact. In August 2025, it was noted that financial support for the programme had significantly increased from $100,000 to $300,000.

23 entrepreneurs were part of the last cohort to receive grants under the MSME Grant Programme.

During Friday's press conference, Hon Smith stated, "The grant programme continues to deliver targeted support to local businesses."
