Hear dis ya! I’m sick and tired of getting sick and tired of this racial, prejudice, colonialism, etc, charade, ie, in the 21st Century that Virgin Islanders are being treated as Second class citizens in the Virgin Islands (British). Imagine a Virgin Islander can neither be elected nor appointed Governor of his/her homeland. Instead, a UK- appointed Governor is appointed Governor; current Governor is Daniel Pruce. The UK-appointed Governor wields unilateral power. Moreover, as a token a local is appointed Deputy-Governor, a powerless, steppin and fetchin place holder. Is appointing a Virgin Islander who may be black inconsistent with Crown lineage, image etc. Who was Queen Charlotte and relation to Windsor clan? The Virgin Islands have been under British control since 1671 and every British Representative has been a white male.

It seems you have forgotten that the VI are a Territory of the UK. That is why they appoint a Governor. The Governor can be black or white. We currently have, and as you have pointed out, have had in the past have a white one. This reflects how many institutions are in the UK, and it is not peculiar to the UK. Things are changing and we have had an Asian Prime Minister, Female Prime Ministers and we have a Black Female Leader of the Opposition, and Black and Asian people in positions of political power, so who knows one day a Black Governor. Maybe a Black Female Governor before even a White Female Governor. What will the objections be then? It will be interesting. For the situation will be the same. Just not the same opportunities for Race baiting.

I wonder how long we will be waiting for the next White member of the HOA or the next White Premier of the VI. Or Asian or South American? When will we be delighted to see that? As many are delighted to see Black and Asian representation moving forwards in the UK. Are people in the VI looking forward to the same enlightenment here?

One day people may even stop using the long misunderstood racially charged Sambo.

@BUZZBVI,,facts not alternative facts, are the real deal. Yes, the UK had an accidental PM of Indian descent, Rishi Sunak who was appointed by fellow parliamentarians. Nevertheless, when he faced the full electorate, he was kicked to the curb. All the appeasement cannot change the cold hard facts. It seems you are hoping that the first non-white UK-appointed Governor be a black female, killing two birds with one stone. However, this does not change the fact for over 300 years every UK rep has been a white mske. This is not a coincidence but a deliberate action which is as clear as mud. Only white males can represent the crown in multi-racial society? It seems like we are living in the dark ages of the 17th Century is it not? Are we living in the era of Dickensian hard time with the majority against the supposedly inferior minority?
