WICKHAM’S CAY II, Tortola, VI – A motor scooter rider who was knocked off his motorcycle Monday night, November 30, 2015, was still recovering at Peebles Hospital in stable condition up to yesterday evening, December 1, 2015.

The accident took place in the vicinity of the traffic lights in Wickham’s Cay II sometime after 8:30 PM and attracted a large crowd of onlookers.

Confirming the incident, Police Information Officer Diane Drayton said investigations are continuing into the accident.

She confirmed that the scooter rider was up to Tuesday night still hospitalised.

“The scooter rider who was taken to [Peebles] Hospital was still in a stable condition as of yesterday [December 1, 2015] afternoon. No other injuries were reported. Police investigations are ongoing,” Drayton told this news site.

This news site has witnessed many instances where some scooter riders breach traffic laws with impunity and becoming a danger to themselves and other road users.

Not all riders are careless we have some who value the road and their life. We are not sure what happen in this matter. Hope you recover soon and that the driver of the vehicle is also OK. Emotional stress is a just as be ending hospitalized.

The only thing that will stop this is to ENFORCE ALL TRAFFIC LAWS. Every time I am in town I see red light running. I see no helmuts, I see speeding, weaving and once more red light running by cars as well as bikes. At Wickams Cay light, going East, the bikes turn left on a red, immediately u turn on side road and then have green to turn left again and have avoided the red light. One going down the center (if not illegal, should be) hit my mirror but did not stop. Cost me a mirror! Why does no one understand that if laws were ENFORCED, problems would be less.
