WEST END, Tortola, VI – The mother of Miss BVI 2013/14 Miss Rosanna K. Chichester has lent her voice to the call for persons in the Virgin Islands to unite in the fight against Cancer.

Mrs Jennifer Chichester is not a cancer survivor but a woman who has been living with another chronic illness, Lupus. She related that her husband also suffers from a chronic illness but they have both learnt the value of unity in dealing with their challenges.

“Unity is what defines us as Virgin Islanders. Yes I am originally from Guyana but have been living here for many many years and I have learnt that unity is one of the strengths of BVIslanders,” said Mrs Chichester at the fundraising activity for Mr Roy A. Hodge in West End on Saturday August 24, 2013.

Mrs Chichester’s daughter and reigning Miss BVI, Rosanna, is a supporting member of the BVI Cancer Society.

Cancer treatment costs is exorbitant with or without insurance

At the same event, President (Ag.) of the BVI Cancer Society, Ms Gloria Fahie renewed calls for support in the fight against Cancer. She noted that the fight plunges very deep in one’s pocket when it comes to treatment expenses.

“I can tell you the cost for treatment is really heavy even if you have insurance coverage,” Ms Fahie said.

A Cancer survivor, Ms Fahie said it is important that persons do their best at inculcating good health seeking behaviours since early detection can eliminate the additional pain of financing medium and long term care and treatment.

She also stressed the importance of supporting others and the BVI Cancer Society. Ms Fahie noted that Mr Hodge is a perfect example of being a good advocate as he was always active and always present to do poetry at annual fund raising events even prior to his diagnosis.

She also underscored the good side of Facebook and urged persons to make good use of as it was through that media that the society learnt of the benefit drive that was organised for Mr Hodge.

A group of friends who cared, did a similar fundraising for a dear friend, with permission....and did very well with the success of everyone coming together to CARE. We did it alone, amongst friends and those who did not know the person in need......we did it and will do it again for anyone in the same situation. It is the only loving, caring, reaching out thing we did and we all should do, over and over, as it is the right thing to do as a human being.

I pray all is well with the survivors and fighters of this dreaded ailment. Truth be told we need to treat our bodies like temples and watch what we digest. pay attention to how our meals are prepared because if you buy food these vendors do not care bout your health. They will serve you food ccoked with oil and ingredients that are NOT in the best condition, because there is no one to check or stop them.

Go online type in Rene Caisse. This nurse has an herbal remedy called Essiac Tea. Her name spelled backwards.
The remedy supposedly originated with a Native American Indian Medicine Man.

She describes cancer herbs, gives you the ingredients for the tea and tells of the people she has cured.
It's an alternative. Just thought I would share.
