RODNEY BAY, Gros Islet, Saint Lucia- Twenty-eight-year-old mother Tenisha Yarde has died just over a week after she was run over by a bus during an altercation in Rodney Bay, Gros Islet.

Yarde died late Sunday night, August 9, 2026. She is survived by her young son.

Her death came after an incident on Sunday, August 2, which the Criminal Investigations Department at the Gros Islet Police Divisional Headquarters is investigating.

Preliminary reports from the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force say Yarde was involved in an altercation with a man and another woman in Rodney Bay.

Police said that during the incident, Yarde fell onto the road and into the path of an oncoming bus, which then ran over her.

Saint Lucia Fire Service officers responded and took Yarde by ambulance to Owen King EU Hospital.

When police first released a statement, Yarde was reported to be in stable condition. However, she died on Monday, eight days after the incident.

Details about the altercation, including what caused Yarde to fall onto the road, have not yet been fully released.

Police say no arrests have been made so far, but the investigation is ongoing.
