More than a hundred workers down tools for health!
The activity took the form of a fun/run that started at the Band Stand in Road Town and proceeded through Paul Wattley Road, into Main Street by way of Russell Hill and finished at the Band Stand.
Participants included persons from the health sector, Fire and Rescue Service-headed by Chief Fire Officer Zebalon McLean, the teaching service and various private businesses.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) participation was headed by Police Commissioner David Morris. Also present was Territorial-At-Large Representative Honourable Archibald C. Christian
The seventh annual Caribbean Wellness Day is observed regionally among the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to bring awareness on the impact of chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
As part of Caribbean Wellness Day and the Virgin Islands National Health Strategy, the fun walk/run was established to encourage physical activity among the public and private workforce.
Meanwhile, activities in observances of Caribbean Wellness Day continue today, September 14, 2013 with the East End/Long Look Health and Wellness Committee Fair and official launch at Greenland Recreation Field from 4:30 P.M.
