More disturbing stories of Peebles Hospital shared on Facebook

It was earlier today, July 22, 2016 that a Sabrina Evans took to the public forum, BVI Community Board, to express her frustration after reportedly visiting the Emergency Room of Peebles Hospital.
“I'm at the Peebles hospital ER with a friend and I would just like to say how horrible the service is! The attending nurse is a real you know what! And the staff behind the glass aren't any better! You mean to tell me you see some one walk into the ER and you look at them and BOTH of you decide to leave to go eat your breakfast?! So what, emergencies don't happen until after you had breakfast?! Listen this is Facebook so I won't drop the MS this and that, but I can't stand PEEBLES PERIOD!” Evans posted on the Facebook group wall.
She added: “I had the MOST HORRIBLE Labour and delivery here, and if you heard the story you would tell me I'm lying. NEVER AGAIN!!!!”
Public sympathises with Evans
Evans’ Facebook post sparked a reaction of sympathy from members of the public who proceeded to share some of their own not so memorable experiences at Peebles Hospital.
Pati Romney said: “They will soon tell you it's a miscommunication issue as the excuse. Emergencies only come in ambulances and that's after you wait for 2 1/2 hours for it to get to you.”
Kai de Castro agreed with Romney’s comment, saying “My father learned from my granny God rest her soul. Call the ambulance. It's like a chain. It might be abused but if it cost more but rushes the process. If I damaged I calling the ambulance straight up. #911 hi I'm dying send an ambulance.”
Evans noted that she had indeed told a family member that they should have called an ambulance.
Jay Leonard said “A person dies unattended, terrible service to sick people and yet the same faces in the same places. The Chairman still there, the CEO and the Minister. Somebody need lose their job. Maybe then things will change.”
At this point, Olivia Callwood said she thought the situation in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands was bad but hearing the stories of Peebles Hospital “makes me pretty thankful for Roy Schneider Hospital.”
A comment that drew five 'likes' was made by Rae Nisia, who said: “That's why these kind of fields require ‘career minded and passionate people’ versus people that see it as a JOB .. Or source of income and that's it. Where no passion lies there will always be this problem and it needs to be seriously looked into.”
Andrew Sampson then shared an experience he allegedly had at Peebles Hospital, saying “That's like when I broke my arm... I stood there in pain with a twisted elbow and everyone was just looking at me as if I'm crazy... Claiming no nurses are available to look me, neither doctors. Thank God I'm out!”
Evans would later give an update on Facebook, saying: “…the lady from behind the counter comes outside to get cell service to check her Facebook. Then proceeds to laugh and say "haha well Sah we on BVI Community Board." I guess that's what passes for jokes around here.
“Everyone has left their post to gossip about my posting in the hallway. Good thing nobody came in to die today.”
Marketing and Communications Manager of the BVI Health Services Authority, Franka Potter told Virgin Islands News Online that the controversial Facebook post has been brought to BVIHSA's attention and it is looking into the allegations.
"We are dealing with it right now. We have to go up and investigate what is happening up there," Ms Potter said.
Embattled Peebles Hospital
Peebles Hospital is still reeling from allegations that a woman, Valda Stewart, fondly known as 'Annette', 48, a native of Dominica, died on Monday June 20, 2016 while at the territory’s lone hospital.
Reports are that the woman was made to wait for 'hours' after arriving at the hospital with chest pains and subsequently died before she could have been attended to.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the BVI Health Services Authority, Bishop John I. Cline had blasted the reports as “inaccurate”, but said an active investigation was underway.

There's always room for improvement and hoping they will be rectified soon.
It is not that people from here are not qualified,When they train and come back home, they are treated like dogs.People like J**********8H******* prefers to give the nursing jobs to her Jamaican friends,so the locals have no choice but to return to the US where there is a demand for nurses,That is what Ronnie Skelton should look into. All these expatriates in key positions who push locals around.
