He added that this is the first of many more that is to come and extended thanks to sponsors, Minister for Education and Culture Hon. Myron Walwyn and Eight District Representative Hon. Marlon Penn.
“I would like to thank Hon. Penn and Hon. Walwyn for sponsoring the event and making it possible for the fathers.”
Competing to the end with a cash prize of $1000 on their minds, the final games of the tournament were very close and stirred up even more competition and excitement than expected.
The night concluded with Moose 1 defeating Moose 3 with 1012 to 840 points.
Charles ‘Moose’ Penn, owner of Moose Success Bar in Fat Hogs Bay, said he is very happy to see his teams on top. The entrepreneur, who sponsored three teams of the tournament (Moose 1,2 and 3), said he saw the importance of the event. “Majority of the fathers have nothing to do, so this is an excellent idea to bring the fathers together in an activity like this.”
Sponsors of the event, Hon. Walwyn and Hon. Penn said that the event is a very good idea. They both stated that upon the continuation of the event over the years to come, they look forward to being a part of it and being involved.
“Domino is a sport that brings people together, it is part of the Virgin Islands culture to play domino and whatever support I can give, I am always onboard,” said Hon. Walwyn.
Meanwhile, Hon. Penn stated that “It was a very good event that was well attended and well supported by the men of the community. I have been playing domino for over 12 years, so I know that they are very good players and they deserve it.”
The district representative said he sees the event as one that can be bigger and better in years to come and he is glad to be a part of the tournament as a spectator and a sponsor.
