ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The educational scholarship has been reinstated as the top prize for the winner of the annual Miss British Virgin Islands Pageant held as part of the Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival.

Chair of the Miss BVI Sub-committee, Natalie O. Hodge, had told our news centre that the committee is committed to having the pageant this year following its forced cancellation in 2025.

She also said the committee was working on securing attractive prizes, and with the reinstatement of the educational scholarship, the committee seems to be on the right track.

$80K 4 year scholarship

Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, Hon Sharie B. de Castro (AL), made the official announcement on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

“Many people see me in this office today and forget that my journey of service in the Virgin Islands began on a very different stage. Years ago, I stood on that stage with a dream. Today, I stand in this office with purpose. That experience taught me that poise is important, but a prepared mind is unstoppable,” Hon de Castro said.

She added that access to education is the ultimate power; it equips you with the tools to lead, advocate and excel on a global stage.

“As a former Miss BVI, I know the weight of that platform, and as your Minister for Education, I know the power of opportunity. That is why I am so incredibly proud to announce that the Ministry of Education has partnered with the Miss BVI Committee to ensure that the winner of this year’s pageant receives a four-year scholarship valued at $80,000.”

She encouraged young women to sign up to participate in this year’s pageant, saying, “Your voice matters, your education matters, take the leap and sign up today.”

Other prizes

Miss BVI 2026 will also receive a brand new 2027 Haval Jolion, courtesy of the Office of the Premier and Alphonso Enterprise Ltd.

In addition, the winner will receive a custom-designed crown and sceptre by House of Luxury.

“This is more than a title; it’s your opportunity to represent the Virgin Islands, showcasing our culture, beauty, and brand to the world,” the committee said in a recent Facebook post revealing that the deadline for registration had been extended to Monday, April 27, 2026.
