VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- In the absence of a Rise and Shine through the streets of Valley, Virgin Gorda as customary for the Virgin Gorda Easter Festival, all roads led to Saucez Bar and Grill this morning, April 18, 2022.

It was a Rise and Shine Grenada Jouvert style that saw persons gathered in large numbers from approximately 5:00am.

Persons came out in their various costumes while some oiled their skin. Others came equipped with buckets of water and coloured powder.

As soon as the sun came out; however, the gyrating crowd began to thin out.

Ninth District Representative Hon Vincent O. Wheatley had said a Rise & Shine must happen and it did, albeit not in the usual way.

According to reports, there will be a small Parade this afternoon, starting at Dixie’s Restaurant on Lee Road and ending at Raul ‘Jougo’ Sprauve Festival Village.

This is what Jesus died for? This is an abomination to the height! How can we possibly call ourselves a Christian community with this kind of behavior? Pure sickness!!! Shameful!!!

In about two weeks from now, just watch. Vaccinated or not, someone(s) in the crowd who have the virus spread the virus to others.

I hate it when I hear people say "I'm vaccinated" so they don't have to wear a mask in an establishment. They sound like fools. All this VG rise and shine have shown me are that idiots would rather party instead of living longer safely. I am not impressed with these nasty pictures and ashamed we haven't taken this virus seriously. We will never get rid of COVID acting like this. SMDH! And yes, our so-called leaders allowed this and we are supposed to accept this vile mess?

Soooo agree with you. Not even in a holy season like Easter can people act right. Some people have no shame.... no wonder judgment is on the earth!

Our VI cultural heritage has been ruined by these outsiders (they will get offended if I call them that other name). Our African minister of culture has failed. Because I think the indigenous African traditions and celebrations are better than this.
