BRIDGETWON, Barbados- Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has led the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) to an unprecedented 30-0 victory for the third successive time in Barbados’ electoral history.

Mottley's BLP won all 30 seats available in the elections on February 11, 2026, unseating Opposition Leader Ralph A. Thorne, after the prime minister built one of the strongest global profiles of any Caribbean leader, and was supported by voters across the country.

"Our mission first and foremost is to stop poor people from being poor and to remove injustice wherever it exists to create opportunities for people," Mottley said in a victory speech on election night.

Surrounded by supporters dressed in red, she announced that Friday, February 13, 2026, would be a public bank holiday in Barbados.

The 60-year-old prime minister also promised to take care of Barbados' democracy, which last year celebrated 75 years since people earned the right to vote without owning property.

Her party has vowed to continue to focus on the economy, cost-of-living and the Caribbean nation's place on the international stage.

Democracy at work. Leaders plan their work and work their plan. More importantly, leaders genuinely care about their people, protect their people, and look after their people’s welfare. Too often people are stated as the most important resource but often is not a top priority; they are sacrificed on the altar of other….

Words in action is more powerful than mere words, ie, written, spoken, etc. What a leader does is more important than what say. Talk is cheap; action has impact.

PM M. Mottley is a regional, international, global rising star., setting the personal example worthy of emulation.

There has been no real Opposition for years and there has been no widespread corruption. The thing is for leaders to remember that they are accountable to their people and to live and lead with integrity.

How would you know if there was any corruption when all the rats are minding the cheese? This is exactly why an Opposition is needed! Any corruption would not be revealed when there is 30-0

Congratulations to the BLP and Hon Mia Amor Mottley on their history making 30-0 shellacking clean sweep at the polls. That said WTF up with the Opposition ? Dem ting less sah? An opposition is essential to keep things real and on the level. Nonetheless, it is democracy at work.

@—- change just for the sake of change is a useless, costly exercise. Change should drive real change. The BVI needs change change agents.

@….though all of us are political animals, all politics, political locales, and political environments/situations are not the same. What occurs and happening in regional locales are situational. Voters vote to keep an incumbent government or kick it to curb varies in different countries. It is not a copy cat or monkey see, monkey do situation. Voters vote their self-interest first , ie, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. The few, the elites, etc, may be doing well. Politicians may try to force feed that things are going well, ie, things are better they appear. Here is the news flash. Things may be improving, but if a critical mass is not feeling it, it is not happening. This may puzzle, frustrate, etc, politicians. Political parties tend to sound the same, ie, they preach austerity, fiscal and monetary structures , etc.

Will her 30-0 victory in Barbados fix our solve our many political infighting, and other diversified problems happening daily in the B.V.I. in addition, where is democracy principles in a 30-0 victory?
Simple put, any country where no opposition has been disallowed, is in fact has voted a dictator in power.

I hope that the people of the British Virgin Islands won't become that foolish to immitate the voters of Barbados stupidity.

Democracy is the voice of the people being heard and their will being done. The opposition has not been "disallowed". People voted - that is democracy. Is it best to have an Opposition in parliament? Of course it is, but the reality is that there has been no effective Opposition party/parties for many years, yet there has been no widespread corruption. You may see the Barbados voters as "stupid", but their "stupidity" seems to be working for them. I guess you see us here in the BVI as sensible - so what's going on with us?

The lady is a leader that does what she has to for the benefit of her country an listen to the need of her ppl.
Bvi we need to call a early election but we don't have any opposition that will do different to the current government.
It's ashame we can't trust any one of the political parties to put to lead us. None of them have this country best interest at heart.
I will touch on vg, the island has now began to look like a jungle, properties with trees half the height of the lamp poles and some hanging in the roads.
    The roads need attention .
The road by the junction to go by the water and sewage reservoir needs urgent attention, it is about to collapse and pedestrians could get hurt if it collapse.
We need sidewalks on the main road, we cater to tourist and there is no safe place for anyone to walk safely.
Kids walking to and from school. With the drivers on the road not considering pedestrians.
Every property owner have their fence on the road side.
These are some of the things that we need to look into as a small country with enough finance being available to fix these issues.
Vg is a small but together community who will come together and help to fix our issues if we have to but some politicians take things to heart and get defensive and try to victimize. We need to get our once beautiful island back to its beautiful state. We don't need government to do everything, we can show our vg pride and start doing for our island.

The three-peat landslide victory for 3 consecutive terms speaks volumes about the Barbadian electorate and their confidence in Mia Mottley's leadership of the country...not dictatorship. Although there was no Opposition voted in, an Opposition will be formed to ensure democracy, transparency and accountability of the Government, which is what has been previously done.

The question is, is the BVI ready for a woman leader? Not making it about sex, but there are some womrn out there who are visionaries and can take the BVI where it needs to go.
