Others HAVE tried. She refuses help. Is only interested in getting money for drugs. She needs to be taken off the streets.

SHE NEEDS TO PUT IN REHAB FOR A LONG TIME, FAR AWAY FROM TORTOLA, NOT JUST BEING PUT IN THE BHU WARD AT HOSPITAL, THAT'S NOT GOING TO CUT IT. SHE HAVE TO GO THROUGH A CLEANS. HASANNAH I AM SO SORRY TO SEE WHAT YOU HAVE BECOME.
    • @ Mr Fonseca because you can’t be a female talking like that. (11/10/2022, 18:33) Like (13) Dislike (13) Reply
Df females have to do with this?… She has both men and women in her family right?.. Or is it that only women can be compassionate enough?.. How is it that only females are to be blamed for not helping a mentally ill woman?.. So I guess I should blame you for the men?.. Okay understood..

Its pains me to see the many mentally ill men live the way they do in the BVI. I don’t understand why the males of the community turn blind eyes.

Lol sounds stupid right?… Blame the family members and the government for not helping the homeless not just females brother. And by your statement I’m getting a deep disgust of females .. I’m guessing we may not be your type?.

The females of the community you say?? Really?? What role does her family play in this? Now tell me, I don’t understand how the males in the community turn a blind eye to a child who is being bullied in public school.

I cried with the mother who shared what her child has and is enduring. Imagine, school authorities notified, police notified and all thru can tell this mother that they looking into the matter.

The BVI is in a crisis!

SHE CHOOSE THE LIFE THAT SHE IS LIVING, SHE WAS THE ONE THAT MADE THE CHOICE TO SMOKE CRACK. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FEMALES LIVING IN THE COMMUNITY TURNING A BLIND EYE. WHY DON’T YOU TAKE HER IN AND HELP HER, BET SHE WILL ROB YOUR A** BLIND OR PERHAPS HURT YOU REAL BAD OR WORSE IF SHE ASK YOU FOR MONEY AND YOU SAY NO.
    • @ R. Fonseca (12/10/2022, 08:25) Like (19) Dislike (0) Reply
I personally know it's not for the lack of the family trying so please. The community can try with her all they want but until she recognizes, accepts the fact that she needs help and is willing to accept the help, nothing will happen. Yes, they may take her to the hospital for a few days/weeks but as soon as she comes out she goes straight back to the persons she is accustom of hanging around and then a few days later she is back in the same state or worse.

Sandy Lane Center is a waste of time. All it really amounts to is a safe haven for drug and alcohol addicts to operate. Persons in this institution should not be allowed to roam the streets during the day. This is when they procure their contraband to take back to the facility for later use. Meanwhile government provides bed and board for persons who feel they are getting over on the system. This whole concept is basically flawed and just another area of wasted government expenditure. Make it make sense.
    • smfh (12/10/2022, 12:21) Like (5) Dislike (1) Reply
Stop spreading lies! This is not true. Everyone that lives in Sandy Lane is mentally Ill and is unable to live independently. If you knew or even took time to volunteer at that center, most of their clients are elderly. Few persons like macho, yellow and Michael are able to go out and hustle. Drugs are forbidden on the premises, which is why yellow does what she has to do and comes back in. They cannot kick residents out if the government doesn't give the Okay.
It is easy to point the finger when you have slim knowledge of the situation. That place is begging for help from the public so

She is not mentally ill. She is a substance abuser. She took the money to buy her drug of choice, CRACK COCAINE. People that is mentally I’ll do not steal money, they will beg for it. She is a crack head that got hooked on the glass D**K. I don’t trust or want anything to do with a crack head, they will sell their mothers eye balls for a hit of crack. At junkie will shoot up heroine and go somewhere and nod out or they look like they are keeling over about to hit the ground and bounce right back up. A crack head is always on the move looking for what they can steal.

A young man mash up our vehicle all of a sudden he is mental because no one wants to pay for it. The matter gone under the rug police, family and health gone to sleep on the matter. A mental person don't have the sense to mash up someone vehicle with the one he drove. Run away Leave the scene, come back and try to take his vehicle from the scene. Yea right he is mental. If one of us had deal with him you would not have said we mental but lock us up. Insurance in the mill mall is a waste of time.
When people take justice for them selves you quick to come lock them up but time is longer than twine.

Well if everyone is so sure she's a crackhead lets pressure the Police to find who is dealing that S**T here and lock them up. It would get them out of mould central for a while and give them something worthwhile to do. Just a thought.

I believe there are family, former friends and other community minded persons that want to help; but only see that their help can only be done meaningfully with assistance of a controlled facility. This is where the BVI Government comes in. There is yet for a mental facility to be built. The current facility, Safe Haven, is inadequate. It is concerning that this aspect of our society, our economy is not dealt with adequately. When will it?

These individuals are supposedly deemed to be a Nuisance to Society( threat to Human Lives) so why isn't there some provision in the Laws to have them picked up by Authorities and shipped off Island for treatment and rehabilitation . Are We going to wait until someone is seriously injured or if one of these individuals mess with the wrong individual and get killed.

She needs to be placed in a detox center. Put her in prison she will get withdrawals or possible seizures. She needs to be in a detox center where they are equipped to handle her problem. People here talking about call police, there is nothing the police can do unless the crack head seriously hurt or kill someone. Why not use the old hospital as a inpatient outpatient mental facility and detox center.
