GREAT HARBOUR, Jost van Dyke, VI- Law enforcement officers reportedly came under fire while on a high-speed boat chase on the night of Sunday, August 25, 2024.

The occupants of the boat managed to escape arrest by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and US Customs Border Control by abandoning their go-fast vessel on Jost van Dyke (JvD).

“The occupants, after firing at officers, abandoned the vessel on the western end of the island and escaped on foot. Despite an extensive search in the area, they remain at large. The go-fast vessel is now securely in police custody, and investigations are ongoing,” the RVIPF stated in a press release on August 26, 2024.

A helicopter was also used in the operation by law enforcement officials.

‘Reckless actions’ endanger police & community- Jacqueline E. Vanterpool

Acting Commissioner Jacqueline E. Vanterpool is urging the public to assist in the investigation,

“The reckless actions of these criminals endanger not just our officers but the entire community. We cannot allow our waters to become a haven for illegal activity. It is imperative that we unite to bring those responsible to justice and ensure the safety of our islands," she declared.

The RVIPF is urging the public to provide any information related to the incident. Persons are encouraged to confidentially call the Crime Stoppers line 800-8477 (TIPS) or overseas call 1-284-800-8477 with the relevant information; or contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.

“Every piece of information, no matter how seemingly insignificant, could prove crucial in advancing the ongoing investigation,” the RVIPF stated.

It is very strange that helicopter stayed in a single area looking for that boat, this captain was more cunning and intelligent, he set speed and headed for JVD with his Tesla engines ???? without leaving deals and getting under the nose of the law to load his drugs and weapons today they are celebrating that no one can stop it only the UK, the people of BVI believe that the UK is interested in BVI it is a mistake bvi does not have resources that contribute to bvi the people of bvi will benefit more with an administration in bvi to a friend's privilege will be lost

When you catch them, make sure they do many years in prison just for trying to kill our officers who were pursuing them. These punks MUST BE STOPPED! That boat has to be registered to someone and none of that crap about it being stolen.

Yes legalize already. Let people get their medical/recreational herb and stop mixing with people who sell other drugs. We create our own outlaw culture. I dont agree with coke but they group everyone together. Non-violent otherwise law abiding citizens could be locked up with murderers for a plant that killed no one in the entire record of human history... Sounds fair.

Only in the BVI do culprits escape and evade police by running ashore on a tiny island like Jost. You clowns couldn’t find your a booger if it was hanging out of your own nose.

Thats why law makers & local "representatives" need to start working on a self defence law & license arms of a kind. The criminals have big bag weapons, the police chase always ends in escape. When these people drug running run out guess what they will have the big weapons and want whats in your house.
