Melanie Amaro showed her humorous side on the show Live! with Kelly this morning.

As expected the show brought out the lighter side of the singing sensation, who has suddenly turned from a humble child who even spent a part of her childhood years in the Virgin Islands to a celebrity, whose fan base continues to grow.

As Melanie came on the set host Kelly Ripa joked that she believed Simon Cowell sent her home so that he could rescue her and be the hero to which Melanie replied, “I think so”. Co-host and actor/author Rob Lowe remarked, “He is manipulative that way”.

Melanie then noted that she really loves Simon to which Kelly replied, “Well of course he gave you five million dollars” as the trio on set and the audience burst into laughter.

Kelly then asked Melanie if she had auditioned for any shows before because when she heard Melanie sing she was impressed and wanted to know who she was. Melanie replied that she had seen American Idol and different talent shows but didn’t think that any were for her but she saw the audition advertisement for X Factor and finally decided to give it a try. She also stated that she didn’t make the audition the first time but her mother insisted that she try again which she did and got through. She said, however, when she was sent home she was devastated and thought she should not have gone in the first place.

The story would take a sweet turn for Melanie, however, as Cowell wanted Melanie back on the show. She said Simon just showed up at her door at which point Kelly joked that she should have just slammed the door in his face. Melanie replied that it was her dad that answered the door and joked too that her dad’s initial reaction was to hit Simon. She related that Simon told her he was really scared because he thought he was going to get punched in the face by her dad but noted that her dad was actually happy to see Simon and he let out a “girlish” scream of joy.

The 19-year-old explained that she was at her computer minding her own business and though the scream of her dad was just to get her attention but then Simon walked in and called her name. Melanie said she asked “Are you here to rub it in my face that you sent me home” but Simon said no and that he actually came to ask her back on the show and “we just stood there for like five minutes and I was just staring at him”.

Asked by Kelly what “is the best thing from going from an unknown to being a celebrity and whether there was a best part or a bad part about it, Melanie said “I think the best part is having all the support, having so many people support you and show so much love because all your life I think a lot of people look for a lot of love from people...”

Kelly then said she was going to watch Melanie’s career development and wished her “all the best”.
